HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!!

My dad is celebrating his 60th bday this year and for Cantonese ppl, it is a really big bday, thus we threw a dinner and invited all our family members. Btw, in case u guys don't know, my bro and dad share the same bday, 17th Oct. We will be going out on the actual day for dinner again, so watch out for more pics! :)

The dinner was held at Gim Tim restaurant at the Grassroots Club, located near YCK MRT. Choosing a place to have the dinner was a tedious affair, but I won't go into that. My dad was the one that chose the place after comparing menus.

SOMEONE was too busy eating and FORGOT to take a pic of it! Didn't even take a half eaten bowl of it!!! SIGH!! This was good, not your usual shark's fin as it has enoki mushrooms and wanton in it. There were actually chunks of shark's fin!

Suckling Pig. Good but our pig was really fatty ... there was a thick layer of fat underneath the crispy skin.

Fish with Fungus and Mushrooms. Not too bad, ate alot of the mushrooms and fungus.

Scallop in Yam. Felt that this was really oily and could not really taste the scallop as the yam was a little over powering.

Abalone with Veggies and Mushrooms. Think they sliced the abalone days b4 as the all stuck to each other, had to pry them apart!

Herbal Prawns (or should I say, Herbal Shrimp!) Love the herbal soup, prawns were big enough that it wasn't a struggle peeling them.

Dessert ... Yam Paste with Coconut Milk. Wished it had some Gingko nuts in it. However, it was not too sweet, which was good for me.

The bday cake, a 3kg cake Blackforrest cake from Pine Garden. The same place that my bro got his wedding cake. The cake was really good, it had some rum in it which made it taste even better!

It was a really fun nite, other than the fact that my mom drove us kids nuts!! I could not believe she went to my table to tell them how much each table cost! It's one thing if ppl asked about it, but if u are the one giving the treat, u don't go around telling how much it cost! Just felt like she was trying to boast. So pissed off!

The other thing she did was, I felt, unforgivable .. but I guess it is not really for me to forgive or not .... sometimes I really don't understand my mom I will never understand my mom!

My bro had a bbq to celebrate his bday on Fri. At first it looked like it wasn't going to happen after all but I guess they decided to have it anyway, it was prob easier to be around ppl at the time.

His group of friends were not really eaters, so we ended up with alot of food. I think my bro and I also have my mom's "we need to prepare enough food for an army" mentality. I drank way too much and I paid the price ..... Here are some pics from the nite.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KL!!

We celebrated KL's bday twice this year! :) Well, there were some who could not make it on the actual day, so we decided to do it the fri b4 and then on the actual day too.

On Fri we went to a sushi restaurant which was where KL was working. The place was really crowded. Food was great but the portions were measly. Think I prefer Sushi Tei. After dinner we headed to Coffee Bean for cake and drinks .... Since Shanice already posted her pics for that nite, I'm not going to .. haha, lazy. On the 10th, it was just Huiyi, Christine, TY and I. Ben was supposed to join us but had to go to a business dinner instead.

We went to DTF, KL's choice since we already had Jap the weekend b4. Happy me ... even though it was CJ, it was still 小笼包 :)

There was a credit card promo that gave free peanut glutinous balls. We got 10 because we spend more than $70.

After dinner we went to Coffee Bean (AGAIN!) Haha, the ppl working there recognized the bday boy! We just sat down, talked and enjoyed some cheese cake! We were discussing what to do this xmas and I it looks like I might be making turkey! Gobble, Gobble! :)

Dad is back and the kitchen is back in business ... CRAP! My dad cooked during the weekend and there was dinner prepared!! I'm so used to not sitting down for a proper dinner that it just felt weird when I get called down to eat. Well, my dad will be gone again in a few weeks, so I guess I just have to get thru this period, but it just seems like this week is going to be a FOOD week!!

More adventures of 小笼女!

Finally met up with LC on wed and of cos we went to eat 小笼包. LC is the one who started my obsession. We went to DTF as that's her fave (but after reading her blog, I think she might be a convert!)

We order alot of food and as always, we were given a table that is too small! I don't think they expect us to eat so much, haha :)

--- The star of the meal! 小笼包! You can order them by 5 or 10, I think 10 is cheaper than if u order 2 x 5 but they seem to cool alot faster too. Maybe cos we had so much other food to devour. At the other places, it is standard 4 in a 笼.

--- Fried Shrimp Wanton. There were more but we ate some b4 I remembered to take pics .... not as consistent as Shanice when it comes to taking pics :)

--- The other item that we started eating b4 the pic was taken :) Chicken in White Wine.

Went to the zoo today with my cousin and her family. She got free tics so she invited me along .... since I was so free, I decided to tag along :) I have not been to the zoo in the longest time. I think it has to be more than 10 years!

Her kids were really cute, the older one, Shuan Ying, fave question of the day was, "What do __ eat?" The younger one made the cutest monkey sound .... Ooo Ooo Eee Eee :) Here are some pics from the day.

The Elephant show ... quite fun. There was a surprise in the beginning where the elephants sprayed the audiences. My cousin got a little wet :) We were behind her so we were safe.

We left the park at about 2+, the girls were tired even though they refused to admit it. The little one tried her very best to keep her eyes open. As u can guess, both of them knocked out on the ride home :)

Met up with Huiyi on Fri to get Carol's bb's shower gift. We met up at OG orchard after she got off work. It was really fun shopping for bb stuff .. everything is so cute and tiny! We then went to Koren food at a nearby food court .. yummy!

After which we headed back to Taka where I went to look for my ex collegues. I waited for them to get off work and then went to have a few drink with my friend. We shared a jug of magarita (I'll admit that I drank more than 1/2 of it) and then I had another beer too! Left the place after midnight and was super tired .... but still managed to go online till the wee hrs of the morning! Haha, I have an addiction to the internet.

On Sun, I had to wake up early to go to Carol's. Haha, b4 noon is early for me :) It was a short drive there as I borrowed the car from my mom. Picked Yvonne up at the MRT station and headed there .. did not get lost, which was good :)

We were the first ones there of our usual group, however, Doat and her husband was there already. She had alot of friends and relatives there already when we got there. The bb's name is Caelin Ang. She a real cutie pie .. still really tiny though. The rest came about 10mins later after which we helped ourselves to the food. We hid in the bb's room to chat ... I know, quite bad, but there were just too many ppl outside and we were sick of welcoming ppl while standing at the elevator landing.

We left sometime after 3pm. I had to return the car as my mom wanted the car back b4 5pm. I can't have the car without having her breathing down my neck? Sigh ... anyway, Ben followed me home to drop off the car and then we headed to AMK. We called Christine to join us and we went to walk around the new mall there. There was really nothing much to see, the same old stores repeating themselves ...

We then went to New York, New York for coffee and dessert. COFFEE!!! I did not have my coffee fix in the morning .... I was getting drowsy :) The desserts were not that fantastic and they did not have my latte with SKIM milk! How can that be? I know ... I whining ...

We called it an early nite as everyone was tired and had to got to work tmr .. haha, other than me of cos!
