Elections Time

It is time for the Singapore Elections and I am afraid to say that I don't know much about it. It was my mom who brought it to my attention the exact date of it. I remember reading about it in a blog that I visit regularly. Voting is compulsary in Singapore unless u fall into one of these categories:

a)working overseas (including being on a business trip) at the time of the poll (That's me!)
b)studying overseas at the time of the poll
c)living with your spouse who is working or studying overseas
d)overseas vacation which was planned before the poll
e)illness, or delivering a baby

If u really really want to vote, u have to register as an overseas voter and then go to a Singapore Embassy or Consulate ... the nearest one to me? Chicago. There is no way I am going to drive to Chicago to vote. First of all, I don't know who the hell is vying for what position. Not that it really matters, in Singapore, the most powerful party is the PAP ..... or as some call it, P** and P** (it means k*** a** and k*** a**), or P** and P**. They practically win everything. (Read on for an explanation about the asterix)

I can't remember whether I was able to vote the last time they had an election. I remeber my mom telling me that it was a walkover. No one contested the election and thus the guy/gal won by default. I think it was the same for the presidential election. I don't think the elections in S'pore are as exciting as the ones here in the US.

I have been trying to do some research about the elections and learnt a few thing b4 I decided that it was too boring and I stopped. Not too interested in politics ..... Plus, I also learnt that the S'pore governement banned political podcasting ...... which includes blogs ..... I think I can't say anything good or bad in my blog about any of the partys or I might get into real shit. Damn it, I have to delete what I just wrote .... hang on .... Ok, done ..... I think I should be safe now .....LOL. What a whole load of BS.

Nothing going on these few days, just work. I have been too easily annoyed lately. I don't know why but almost everyone has been pissing me off! My temper has been especially short ....... I hate the way I am feeling. Wish I could be the happy, cheerful self again. I can just imagine going postal .... HAHAHAHA ..... I'm just kidding ok? Don't call the cops! I really wish they would invent a happy pill ..... I could sure use it.

I'm feeling so lazy lately, u should see my room .... on second thought, I don't want anyone to see my room, that is why I keep my door closed all the time. I really need to get it cleaned .... maybe this weekend ... MAYBE.

On a much happy note, my Vegas trip is drawing closer and closer! Currently we are planning on staying in Vegas for 3 nites, 2 of which we are staying at NYNY and then the last day we will be stay at the Bellagio (fancy, fancy). I don't think I have ever stayed in such a fancy hotel b4 ..... when my family and I travelled, we usually go for the cheapest :) We will be squeezing 5 of us into one room ... looks like one of us will be taking the floor .... I volunteer Amir! ;) We will prob trade places, guess we need a sleeping bag .... LOL. Hey, we might be doing fancy, but we are still poor!

Bar Hopping Day 3 ..... NOT

We were supposed to go to Crunchy's for karaoke tonite but Helena wasn't feeling too well. So we all stayed home. Haha, guess it was good in a way, I did not think I could have another nite of drinking! I had a headache this morning, it wasn't too bad but I could have lived without it. Anyways, here are some pics from last nite that I promised.

Here are some ppl line dancing.

Look, it is Lindsay and Helena line dancing!

How sweet .... Tom and Liz :)

I have no idea what Liz is doing but she sure looks like she is having fun!

Happy Birthday Liz!!

It was Liz's birthday on Fri and a bunch of us headed to the Wiskey Barrel Saloon. It was a real country bar where there was line dancing and a mechanical bull. Helena tried her hand at the bull and was pretty good at it! Some gals also tried their hand at line dancing but it was hard. We decided that we are going to head back to the Barrel on thursday where they give lessons to us beginners. It should be quite fun with my 2 left feet :)

I think I actually had more fun tonite than last. It just wasn't as loud and Helena didn't get drunk ... LOL. It was really nice hanging out with everyone. I even got out on the dance floor and danced when they were NOT line dancing ... I sure as hell did not want to embarress myself. I will post some pics that I took tomorrow but I am just too tired now ... plus, I have to be up at 9am tomorrow to get to work *GROAN* ...... later..................................

Helena's Birthday!

I met up with Helena, Robbie, Tom and Annette at The Riv. I was late as I was at work and then have to go home to change. By the time I got there, Helena was drunk :) I drank a little b4 we made our way to Lou and Harry's. We did not stay long there as Helena wanted to change b4 we went to Rick's. It was a short walk to her friend's Mel's house but in heels, it was horrible! Tom and I were trailing behind the youngins.

After Helena got changed, we made our way back the bar. We had to wait in line for awhile but we finally made it into the bar. Tom kept buying shots for Helena and she kept taking them. She was so wasted. The girls then decided to go dance and 20mins later, they came back and Helena was crying! Along with here was a bouncer. Damn it, we were getting kicked out. Tom and I guided a stumbling Helena to Annette's bf car. Along the way, Helena kept crying, telling us how sorry she is. It was kinda funny :) We have decided that Helena is an emotional drunk. We kept trying to calm her down but she would not listen. She was also afraid and we had to tell her she was fine and that she was not going to die.

When we reached the car, she did not want to let us go! LOL, kept hugging me, then Tom, again apologizing and weeping. We finally got her in the car and drove her home. This all happened BEFORE midnight!

Tom and I then headed back to his car, we were hungry so we decided to go to Denny's! I was the first time that I have sat in a convertible and I was mighty excited about. Tom said that he would let me drive it someday ..... can't wait! Tom had nachos and I had a burger with fries with COFFEE!

Woke up today and I felt perfectly fine. I thought I would have a bad hangover as I started with beer and then was mixing it with hard liqour ... must have been the coffee I had at Denny's and the greasy food :) We are supposed to go out again tonite ... wonder how Helena is doing ... :)

Happy Birthday Helena!!!

Helena finally turned 21 years old and I decided it would be fun to prank her car ..... I managed to recruit Liz, Elyse and Tom to join in :) I got some crap from the $1 store and Tom came with shaving cream and toilet paer. It took us about an hr to decorate her car and it seemed to have a mexican vibe about it after we were done .... LOL

Check out more pics in the photo album area!

Scrapbooking

I have been working on a scrapbook for my friend Nikki. It is a one year scrapbook for her son Nate. He is a real cutie pie who calls me Rena :) Well, the scrapbook dragged on and on (He's turning 3 this Jun), partly due to the fact that Nikki took forever to get me some pics that I needed ...... luv u Nikki! :) and also I needed to make myself sit down and actually work on it. I had lots of help from my friend Suzette who has tons of scrapbooking stuff which I shamelessly borrow :) Thanks Suzy!

So far I have done 2 scrapbooks; the first was a wedding album for Yuchien and then this one. Maybe the next one should be one for myself?

Here are a few pics of the scrapbook .....

Time to Retire .....

my shoes that is :)

See those black lines in the center of the pic? Those are holes! LOL They have matching holes on the other side too. The front of the shoes are dirtier than the back as my jeans covers them. Can't wash them as the holes would get bigger. Hey, it's ventilation! Well, after much peer pressure (and spilling that gallon of french toast mix on them ... remember?) I finally decided to get a new pair .....

Ta Da!

I just did not see the sense in getting a new pair that would only get dirty working the grill at work. I prefer spending my shoe allowance on strappy sandals, pointy toe shoes, more sandals ...... :)

Ok, will everyone stop giving me crap about my shoes now? Love u all! ;)

My Latest COACH purchase :)

When we went to Birch Run on Sat, of 'cos we had to stop by the COACH store. Unfortunately the latest styles have not reached the factory outlet yet :( Well, it just looks like I would have to wait to I go to the flagship COACH store in Las Vegas to spend the rest of my gift card. The store is supposed to be HUGE!! Anyway, I was thinking of getting a new keychain since my old one just looked sad. Here's the one that I picked out!

Isn't it cute? Thanks to Jeff and Yuchien, I did not have to spend a single cent ..... that made me mighty merry ;)

Ok, better head off to bed, gonna be spending Easter with the Schefflers and as always, I made my special Spinach Dip!

Frankenmuth Chicken Dinner ..... YUM!!!!

Yeah, after an afternoon of shopping, we finally made it to Frankenmuth for dinner. Frankenmuth is Little Germany right here in Michigan!

This is the Bavarian Inn where we are going to have our dinner.
Notice the horse carriage? Yes, they do give rides!

Inside the restaurant. See the girl in the red hat? That's her uniform. Too bad I did not get a pic of the guys' uniform ... if u think your uniform sucks, u should have seen theirs.

First course. Just some great tasting bread with Strawberry Rhubarb Jam.

Clockwise from top left - Chicken Salad, Apple Sauce, Coleslaw and Cranberry Relish.

Next, Chicken Noodle Soup ..... Slurp!

From the top left, there is Mashed Potatoes, Buttered Noodles (my fave side), CHICKEN! (the BEST chicken ever!) , Stuffing, Carrots and in the bowl beside, Gravy.

After stuffing ourselves.
We went through 2 plates of chicken (did I mentioned we did an All-U-Can-Eat?) and 2 bowls of Buttered Noodles.

Dessert was either Orange or Vanilla Ice Cream and Cookies.

A satisfied threesome :) That's Tom and Nikki.

Campfire's Burning!

Ok, I know it is a crappy pic of the campfire, but I was using my camera phone, what do u expect? Just got home from Liz's where she had a pretty nice fire going (not that u can tell from this pic). A bunch of us were there, including Liz, Dan, Tom, Elyse, Helena and moi.

I guess u can call this a start of 3 weekends of drinking? Hahaha. Helena will be turning 21 this coming thursday ..... that's the legal age to drink here in the US .... I know, what losers. Anyway, we will all be going to the Wiskey Barrel on that day to christen her birthday. YAHOO! We will also be going out on that Fri (which happens to also be Liz's birthday) AND Sat! :O Wonder how that is going to turn out, we'll see how Helena (and the rest of us) survives :) There is going to be Karaoke on Sat (I have never seen Americans do Karaoke b4, wonder what is that going to be like)

The following week will be Amir's birthday and we going to have another get together! Danger ...... it looks like I would have to pace myself for the next few weeks .....

Well, heading off to bed. Going shopping and then to Frankenmuth tomorrow (or rather, later today). I feel like chicken tonite, like chicken tonite! :)

Just another damn Monday!

Today just got off to a bad start. Someone didn't put a resting board on the grill right so when I set a countainer of french toast mix on it, lean over to set my toast on the grill, the board slip. A GALLON of the sticky egg and milk mixture drench my jeans and soaked through my shoes and socks. F@#K! The day itself was aready not going well, and to have that happened .... I was so annoyed. I felt so uncomfortable but was unable to go home to change until another employee came in. When I got home, I had to change my jeans, shoes, socks and even my UNDERWEAR!! ARGH! I even jumped into the shower to rinse off my legs so that there wasn't any of the sticky gunk left.

Hopefully tomorrow will be better ...... sigh

Cassie Time

Went out with my friend Cassie tonite, she came home from Alaska for a week for work related stuff and will be leaving tomorrow morning. I was thinking that we were never going to meet up as it seems like she had too much stuff going on in her life to make time for moi. I got really frustrated waiting for her to call a couple of times ..... In case u all didn't know, one of my MAJOR pet peeves is when ppl say that they would call but don't! ......

She finally called me and we went out to Applebees, ate, and talked. I really miss her but sometimes I wonder whether we are growing a little apart. I know they say that absence makes the heart grow fonder, but when someone is not around, u tend to lose touch too. Fortunately, we have been doing quite a good job of always meeting up when she is in town. She is trying to get me to go to Alaska (tons of single guys there .... the ratio is what? 10 to 1?), maybe someday.

I like spending one on one time with my friends, too many ppl and it ppl will just break off into cliques. Am I too selfish that I want my friends to spend some time with me and me alone? Esp when the other ppl in the group are ppl that I don't even know. Because when that is the case, I usually find myself sitting alone in a corner. I don't do very good in groups ..... haha, who am I kidding, sometimes I don't even do well in one on ones ..... I'm too quiet, I like to listen and I am a horrible story teller, thus my fave mode of communication is writting :) TaDa!

Frankenmuth ...... Take Three!

Ok, this is going to be the 3rd time we are planning a trip to Frankenmuth and Birch Run. I really hope that we will make it there this time around. I have to say that it is looking very good so far, it feels like we are almost there! Nikki has asked her mom to take care of Nater, so we will be dropping him off at his grandparents b4 we head off for a day of shopping and then a wonderful chicken dinner! So far, there are Nikki, Tom and I going. We are trying to drag Amir (he's broke), Amanda and maybe a few others. I have yet the opportunity to ask around ...... We have to go! By now, Tom probably thinks that the famous chicken dinner is just something we came up with to tease him :)

Found the other one ....

As I was driving home yesterday, I kept an eye out for the other car that my roomie was talking about and I found it pretty easily. I feel really bad for the owner but when I came home today, I noticed that the car had all 4 wheels back on it! Good for him/her. I wonder how much it cost the owner ..... My friend at work said that to get rims and tires, it would prob cost about US$500-$800. OUCH. Once again, I thank God that it didn't happen to me and I hope that it will never happen to me or anyone I know .....

This is just wrong .....

This happened at my apartment's parking lot. I had to do a double take to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me. Next, I checked my car to make sure that my car's wheels are still there. Yup, they were .... *sigh of relief*

I could not believe that someone would do something like that. At first, I was thinking that it was just a prank played by some friends but when I asked my roomie about it, he said that another car (same make) down the road had a similar outcome. He said that stuff like this happens in Italy all the time but he has not seen it here b4.

I feel bad for laughing at the poor guy, but I hate to say it, it is kinda funny when it is not u. Even though I have somewhat new tires, I guess I should count my lucky stars that it was not me. My wheels were prob too small to be worth the trouble :)
