Happy Birthday to Me!

For my birthday, I decided that I wanted to head back to Fiesta Brasilia. I just love the place too much :)

Luckily, there were 1-for-1 coupons that came out the week b4 my bday and they expire on my bday itself. They had increased the price as it was the holiday season but an extra drink was included bcos of this increase.

Yummy meats and garlic bread!

We had a choice of beer, white wine, red wine or juice. Since Ash isn't a drinker and juice was not worth it, I got her drink! I had 2 beers that nite :)

When we first for there, there was another table that was also celebrating a bday. The staff and chef of the restaurant sang a bday song for the bday gal and when Ash saw it, she was like "Oh, we must get that for u too!"

Argh ... it was kinda embarrassing and I was trying to hide away. The crowd got bigger and for a moment I thought that they would be too busy to sing it to me. However, after we handed over our credit card to pay the bill, they managed to gather themselves and have a little sing-a-long session.

Ok, I have to admit that I was pretty impressed when they started to belt out Happy Birthday in chinese :)

After dinner, my sis and I headed down to Cathay where were were meeting Huiyi, Ben, Yvonne and KL for a movie. We went to watch Chipmunks 2! It was not bad .. one of those movies that is just fun to watch.

After the movie, we headed to PS's Starbucks to have a drink and that is when the gang pulled out a bday cake that was hidden in Yvonne's car. KL sneakily went to her to grab something.

My one and only birthday cake this year :)

I could only pretend to cut the cake as we had to wait to reuse the cake for Ben's bday after midnight.

The 2 bday kids ;)

I think the ppl sitting around us must have had wondered why we were just staring at the cake after we sang Happy Birthday the first time.

We didn't stay very late as some had to work the next day. Moreover, we were all meeting again the day after for another celebration as Ben and I weren't free for dinner on our actual bdays.

When I got home, I got to open my present!

Gift from Ash and Bro. A very cute lock ... not sure what to do with it ... I'll figure something out.

I have another gift from my sis and it Little Twin Stars so it will be showing up on my other blog soon ;)

I had a great bday this year. Thanks everyone for making it one to remember!

Xmas @ Christine and August's

We had our annual Christmas get together @ Christine and Aug's. I always look forward to our xmas gathering.

Yummy food ... I of cos made my spinach dip again :)

A party's not a party w/o some bubbly!

As usual, there was a gift exchange and this year was a year of cups/mug/bottles .... contraptions that hold liquids!

Well, can't really blame ppl as what can u really get with a budget of $10-$20?

Look at how giddily happy Aug was at his box of chocolate! Haha ... it soon ended up in MY hands!

I got the best present of that nite ... $40 voucher @ Taka! LOL ... wasn't the budget $10-$20? I ain't complaining ... no way :P

We played some games after the opening of presents, one of which was to help clear the leftovers :) Haha .. it is one of the games that is fun but also one I dread at the same time. I hate losing as that mean that I would have to eat ... argh!

We also took out Taboo to play and I have to say I suck at it ... I keep saying "Er, er, er ...." Our team lost pretty badly :P

Looking forward to the next Xmas and this time we have BANNED cup/mugs/"anything u drink out of". We were talking about it being a gift recycling year! Haha .... that is when u bring a gift that u were given that doesn't suit u or u don't like and regift it. The fun part is sometimes the gifts are really crappy and the goal of the game is to go home with the least crappy gift :D

Can't wait!

Beer, Buds, Brewerkz

Have not met up with my friend in a pretty long time, so we decided to meet for an afternoon beer at Brewerkz! Haha, its great to have found someone who loves LTS and beer ... it just seems an unlikely combination :P

We chose Brewerkz as it was a convenient location for all of us and beer is cheap from 12-3pm (I think) The prices slowly increases as the nite draws near ... so my advice is go early ;)

We had their yummy fries again and this time we ordered wings. Their wings are not bad.

On top of that, I got a present from Jacq! Hehe .. another mug to add to my collection.

We didn't stay long as we had my mom's NC's BBQ to go to. Can't wait to go back there again ... hmm, I have another beer bud that is going to be back in SGP after a vacation (I think) in Aust. Maybe then ;)

Thanks for my mug Jacq! ^^

Hope they next time we meet it wouldn't be after so long :)

Happy Birthday Ash!

We all went out on Sun to celebrate Ash's bday as she was going to spend it with her family on the actual day. Ash had some vouchers from Tian Jin so we decided to go there.

The food the previous time was not too bad, so I didn't mind going back.

See the fish? We actually had 2 of them because the first one was cook thoroughly, it was only a tad raw and we only noticed it after most of the fish was eaten. However, they still replaced one for us.

After dinner, we actually went to ice cream place I was at the nite b4 (pls see previous post). It was the first time my parents have gone to an atas ice cream place and try as we might to hide the prices from them, they saw it.

Let's just say, u can bet that my parents would never ever step into that place again :P

The rest of us kids, however, really enjoyed ourselves. I just feel that splurging a little once in a while is no big deal .... and as always, I will equate it to my mom's time spend feeding the "one-arm-bandit"

Dinner @ J8

Ben was the one that jio (ask) us out for dinner and at first we were planning to go to Din Tai Fung @ Paragon but while talking to Evon, she mentioned that she has to work late, didn't know what time she would be done, she said that after a long day's work, she wouldn't want to drive down to town. So we decided to change the location to J8 instead so that if she decided to join us, it would be alot closer to her work place.

My mom dropped me at J8 and I went to change some $$ for my mom first. By the time I was done, Ben, Huiyi and KL had already arrived. While walking to the restaurant, I bumped into my cousin, twice, cos I got a little lost :P

We order alot of food! I think we could have ordered a smaller bowl of soup, which was neither sour or spicy :P

What's a meal at Din Tai Fung w/o 小笼包? :) The glutinous rice dumpling wasn't nice :P

After dinner, we walking around J8 for awhile to get some ideas for our Xmas party gift exchange. Sigh .. I really dread buying gifts for it as I hate thinking of something that is unisex and useful. Maybe I should just do what Kelvin does every year .. haha.

We then headed to an ice cream place near my house. It had only just opened and my sis and I did notice it. Evon mentioned that they served really nice Durian ice cream there.

On the way to Ice Edge, we swung by to pick my sis up as she wanted to join us.

We have Mao San Wang (yummy), Rum and Raisin (Rummy ^^), Green Tea, Chocolate .... umm, forgot the others. All of the flavors can be tasted b4 buying and they they were all pretty good!

Evon didn't join us till later ... had to grab a shot b4 I forgot ;)

The place closed @ midnight so it was an early nite for us. Moreover, Ben had offered to sent KL home ... all the way to JURONG!

Think our next meetup would prob be Xmas? Can't wait, lots of food and lots more pics then, I hope :)

Fiesta Brasilla!

We have been wanting to visit this restaurant for some time but previously the would only allow 1 1-for-1 coupon per table. So that means if a group of us 4 wanted to go, we either had to sit separately or pay 3 and get one meal free.

Anyway, they finally changed their coupons and now it can be used for the whole table :) Which is why my Bro, Ash, my sis and I went there. Felt a little weird not asking our parents along but then it would become one of those family dinners. Its just different when its just us siblings.

The restaurant is located @ United Square.

Haha ... its neighbor caught my eye ... BEER!

There are guys walking around with skewers of meat and they would just slice it direct on yr plate. They do change yr plates but not often as yr plate is constantly full. It was not all meat, there was veggies and stuff at the self serve area.

There was chicken, beef, lamb, ham, garlic bread, chicken heart and liver, fish, pineapple, sausage, etc.

My sis and I.

We ate alot and was very stuffed. I really enjoyed the meal ... the meats were succulent and I love it when I got the burnt portion :) I would definitely go back again but a coupon is advisable as otherwise it would cost $38++ per person. That's a little steep, but u do get lots of meats.

A table beside us with more than 10 ppl did not have one as they didn't realize a coupon was needed for the 1-for-1 and they end up having to pay full price for everyone .... haha, dumbass, there goes more than $200 down the drain. That's alot of beer, hehe :P

Hoping a coupon would be available soon. I want to go back!

A Christmas Carol

Went out with KL, Huiyi, Evon and my sis to watch A Christmas Carol staring Jim Carrey in 3D. We first met up for dinner @ The Cathay.

Just grabbed a bite at a Taiwanese eatery place. We didn't want to be late for the movie as Evon said movies started on time there.

The movie was not bad .. I actually did not realized it was supposed to be an animated film :P However, I feel that this version of the Christmas Carol wouldn't really be suitable for kids ... there were scenes that were a little scary and it dragged a tiny bit in some areas. Jim Carrey did a great job doing the voices for the many characters.

After the movie was over, we headed to PS's Cafe Cartel where they had the 50% off all coffee drinks and appetizers. Haha, the 1/2 off really draws alot of ppl there.

Our drinks ...

Chicken wings and a seafood platter.

Another nice nite out with friends :)

Beer + Great Company :)

Had a friend what was in town for the weekend who called me up on the Fri (at 7+pm) itself to ask if we wanted to meet up. Haha, a girl could use a little more notice but there was no way we would say no. God know when might be the next time he comes here.

We had talked about Brewerkz b4 and so we decided to head there. Funny coincidence was that when we reached Central, who did we see?

My Bro!!

What a small world .... but the sad/funny thing was that he was just at Brewerkz with his friends and was on the way home, whereas we were just starting our night. Guess that is life of a guy that has a wife waiting for him at home.

My sis didn't touch much of the beer so Kit and I finished that 4 liters of beer .. haha. The fries were super good too... Garlic Fries (not recommended if u plan to do any kissing afterwards)

Sigh .. blur pic :( I thought I checked it but I guess after downing about 2 LITERS of beer, my vision was slightly off :P but then, how the hell can someone take a blur pic with my spanking new digital cam? Oh wait, I know another person that has the same prob.

It was a great night, hope we get to meet again and this time take a clear pic. Hahaha.

KittyLab @ Singapore Expo

As u all might know, I'm a huge Little Twin Stars fan and even have a blog dedicated to them. Well, when I found out that KittyLab was coming to Singapore, I was slightly intrigued. I had planned on going if my friend from Malaysia would have come down. She is a HUGE kitty fan.

However, she decided not to and none of my HKO pals were going either. The tics just seemed to expensive :( With no one going, I didn't want to spend SGD35 per tic going either. But what if I could go for free? Hmm .... it never hurts to ask ;)

And so I msged my lobang (my connection) and asked if it was possible to get complimentary tics. Haha ... it was one of the "U want what? To where?" moments. I told him just try and it was no biggie if he couldn't get them.

It turns out that my lobang does know the right ppl and the next day I was told that he managed to get 2 tics to it. Let's just say he took a lot of crap for wanting HELLO KITTY tics and had to explain that they were not for him ... LOL

The tics were open tics and so we could go anytime. Since my sis didn't have class today, we decided to head down today. My mom even offered to drop us direct at the Expo which was great bcos if not, we would have to take the train and made a transfer.

We got there at about 12+pm and it was not crowded at all!

The only pic we could take of the exhibition. This was outside ... no photography allowed inside and there were too many staff walking around inside to sneak a shot :(

The map of the exhibition .. it looks alot bigger on the map :P

Well, basically everyone was given a Kitty DNA thingy that u carry to one station. After playing a game that lasted for about 10 secs, it would reward u with something of HK, eg clothes, bow, height, etc. After completion of it station, it would also direct u to the next station.

There was a total of 10 stations ... now is the part that prob got a lot of ppl pissed ... if u finished it in 35mins or less, u would get a badge. They were making ppl rush through the thing in order to get the badge!

Luckily it was not busy at all and we finished our stations with time to spare. There wasn't much to see and because no photo taking was allowed, there wasn't much else to do. And u know what's the saddest part about the whole thing?

THERE WAS NO LITTLE TWIN STARS ANYWHERE!!!

This was the card that we got at the end. The games we played and what we chose created HK's look.

We were given landyards that we could keep. Below was stuff that we got from the HKO booth that was outside KittyLab.

The badge that we got for finishing it within 35mins.

There was a souvenir shop but 99% was HK and no LTS ... sigh. Not going to waste my money on HK stuff. My sis wanted to get something as a souvenir but I told her "NO!" Hahaha .. she is not a HK fan and it would be a waste of money.

I'm glad I did not have to pay for the tics and that made KittyLab so much more fun! Haha ... Prob would only recommend it to true Kitty fans that want to buy stuff from the souvenir shop.

We prob spent about an hr there and then headed to town .... hehe, we were given a ride by a friend that was at the HKO booth!

My sis and I had lunch @ Sushi Tei.

After doing a little shopping, we headed home ....

Thanks to my lobang! LOVIES :)

Happy Birthday to Dad and Bro!

It was my Dad and Bro's bday and we all went out to celebrate.

We chose a Jap restaurant @ United Square which had a Hi Tea Buffet.

The Hi Tea buffet didn't offer beef .. oh the irony considering that their logo is that of a cow :P

But the rest of the selection was pretty good.

I ate so much of the pork belly :) I love that they had sashimi too!

The lamb had to be cooked in a little aluminum container. It was yummy.

I really enjoyed the meal. I was able to burn the fat on the meat to a crisp ... haha, I love eating burnt meat. Yes, I'm weird. They had to change both the charcoal and the grill (on 2 separate occasions) once and they were able to do it pretty quick so our eating wasn't interrupted too much :)

The bill came out to about SGD25 per person. Would really consider going back again.

P.S. Haha, in case no one knew, I'm busy in HKO, which explains for the very undetailed post :P

Durian Fiesta 2009!

This year's Durian Fiesta was held pretty late in the year. It kept getting postponed. Last year my friends and I all went but this year it was just my sis and I.

This weekend was supposed to be the weekend that we would all go to Malacca but there was a clash in schedules and in the end, the plan was scrapped. The whole point was to go as a group and it kinda defeats the purpose if some couldn't make it.

Anyway, I had told my mom to sell her tics first as we were still unsure of whether we could make it. On the day b4, my mom still had tics and so asked if my friends were interested but no one was :( So it was just my sis, dad and I.

We got there early as my mom had to help set things up.

There was no longan this year! :P I don't like mangosteen and can't eat fresh pineapples :(

The King of Fruits!

I thought that the durians this year was better than last year and the area they chose to hold the event was alot more spacious. I ate so much durian that I was pretty stuffed.

This year they order more and so my mom was even able to bring home some leftovers! Looks like I will be having more durian tomorrow :D

Dinner and a movie :)

Met up with the gals (and a hubby) on Fri. Had not seen YQ since he came back from US a few weeks ago. We decided to have dinner @ PS as the movie we had planned later was also going to be at PS.

I got to PS pretty early and decided to stop by PoMo to visit Grace but unfortunately she was home, sick :( I ended up just roaming the mall until Shanice and YQ showed up. We couldn't decide what to eat and when all else fails, Japanese is the way to go :)

The food was not bad and we made sure NOT to eat till we were stuffed as we already had part 2 planned.

After dinner, my sis joined us and we headed to Cafe Cartel where they had 50% off appetizers and coffee after 9pm.

Oh, cakes were also 50% off as they needed to clear everything at the end of the day.

There was free flow of bread but I did not touch any.

Yvonne joined us and had dinner ... they awesome ribs which YQ and my sis helped her finish ;)

We hung around till our movie, 500 Days Of Summer, started @ 1150pm.

The gals .....

While in the cinema, after it turn midnight (they were still showing previews), all of us text KL to wish him a very Happy Birthday. Too bad he couldn't join us as he already had plans :(

The movie was ok, it was one of those movies that is supposed to make u feel like there is someone out there for u and and that everything happens for a reason .... is it really true? Sigh.
