Wanted to do more CNY shopping today so I went out to meet my sis after she got done with lunch with her friends. Unfortunately, shopping was a disappointment as we did not managed to find anything. Looks like I might have to settle with my ONE new dress, no new shoes, or bag or accessories :(

We then headed down to Vivo where I had to go collect my Sushi Tei card. I decided that we should also have a meal there. It was the first time my sis had been to the outlet at Vivo.

While I was collecting my card, they seated my sis and I'm glad I told my sis to request a window seat.

---

This was the view we got, over looking the cable cars going to Sentosa.

---

Here's me with my Sushi Tei card. Now I get 10% off my bills and 20% off during my bday mth. Yippee!

---

Forgot the exact name ... some scallop thingy.

---

My fave, something old ...

---

Something new, eel roll ....

---

Introduced my sis to my new fave, as per reccomendated by LC. My sis loves it! Crap! Its Shrimp grilled with a mayo and roe topping. A cheaper version would be mayo and parmesan cheese, as taught to me by the cooks at Owen Cafe.

---

Our fave, and yes, Vivo is the place to go for the most generous serving with the best view! NEVER go to the outlet at Raffles City!

---

Soft Shell Crab handroll.

I was stuffed ... now I kinda regret eating all that after seeing my the pic I took the yesterday ... damn, the pic I took today didn't look that good either.

Anyway, we went down to the grocery store and I bought stuff to make Rice Krispie Treats. Was telling my sis about it and she said she wanted to try.

---

It's a mixture of chocolate rice krispies, marshmellow and butter ....

---

Gooey and yummy, but yes, with the butter, FATTENING! My sis likes it but she said she would still prefer the dip over this anytime ... haha.

Had a bbq with some of my ex colleagues on Wed. They booked a pit at East Coast Park and we met earlier to get the stuff we needed. I had a hard time trying to get there via public transport as there wasn't a direct route from my place to there.

By the time I got there, it was almost an hr late, but Belle had just reached and Cynthia had not even left her hse! Belle and I went to get the shopping down and we bought a whole lot of things. By the time we were done, Cynthia had arrived and we took a cab to the pit.

We were starving by the time (just past 5pm) we got there so us girls started the fire and cooked a little while waiting for the rest of the gang to arrive.

---

Belle and Cynthia.

---

Me and Belle ... I look fucking fat in this pic!! ARGH! WTF?!?!

Anyway, the rest of the ppl did not arrive until about 8+ at nite and by that time we were stuffed. Not a very huge turnout, a total of 8 ppl as some could not make it at the last min.

Other than help with the shopping, I really did not do much, but it was still tiring having to get everything there .... oh, how much more convenient it is to have one at home. Hmm, I wonder when my parents are going to HK ;)

Where I get my stubbornness ....

My parents are still not talking to each other. My mom refuses to cook for my dad or eat anything my dad cooks (yup, he cooked a couple of times so far) Both my parents are stubborn but especially so my mom.

Here's what happened ....

Time: 11+ pm
Place: My parents bedroom

My dad is asleep and my mom is watching TV. My sis came home and went to let my mom know.

Sis: I'm back.

Mom: Have u eaten?

Sis: Yeah, why?

Mom: I bought some 五香 (its this fried assorted, cut up, meat that u eat with a dipping sauce). Its downstairs, do you want to eat?

Sis: No, not really, I've eaten.

Mom: Then go wake daddy up and tell him that I bought some 五香 downstairs. (Bear in mind that my mom is BESIDE my dad in bed)

Sis: HUH? What the hell? But daddy is there ... U go wake him up lah.

Mom: Aiyah, just wake him up ...

And so my sis went to wake my dad up, because my mom refused to even talk to him. But in the end, they all went down and had supper. Which ended the cooking strike....

DAMN!

No more Popeyes or "slurp" for my sis! Haha ....

I love packages! Yes, those other kind too ;)

I have been waiting for something I bought on ebay to come for awhile. Unfortunately the seller was away so was unable to send out the item until a week later. And to top things off, my door bell is not functioning, so I did not hear the postman when he rang yesterday. That meant a trip to the post office today.

---

Her brother has arrived!!! YIPPEE!! Aren't they the cutest thing u ever saw?

And it turns out, I had two packages at the post office. Turns out the other slip which I thought was a duplicate was actually for another package. It was from Yuchien who sent some stuff that my bro bought and she threw in some things for me too!!

---

The original Spinach Dip Mix!! I love her .... I could not find it here for the longest time. Found a different brand but this is the original and its the BEST!

HAPPY!

Popeyes Again!!

Heehee, went to the airport for Popeyes again with my sis and, ahem, a friend ;). Btw, in case all my friends in the US are wondering , the airport is not that far away. prob about 15-20mins drive from my hse? Its really not that far .... sigh, still remember the days when we would drive FOUR hrs to Chicago for dim sum.

We went to the one at T1 to see if there was a difference in menu and quality. Pls ignore the color of the pics .. my sis's friend was playing around with the camera the last time they were out and I did not notice it when taking the pics.

---

Here's the chicken and biscuit. The biscuit was not as good as the ones we had at T3 but prob cos those came out straight from the oven to our plates. These .. hmm, think they were sitting out for awhile as we went during the down time.

---

Here's the mashed potatoes! Love it, love it, love it.

---

Chicken strips that were pretty tough (left out too long), they were so much better at T3 that day.

At this outlet, the good thing is that they do offer just chicken, but they do not offer Cajun rice, beans & rice or diet coke. Looks like its back to T3, but I think I might have to call b4hand to make sure that they do have the items I want b4 I head down. And to also go during lunch or dinner time .... I want my food hot and fresh!

After which, we headed to IKEA so that my sis could have her "SLURP" :) dessert. Another yummy day!

Popeyes!

Found out recently there are Popeyes here in Spore. However, they are both located at the AIRPORT! Remember my first and only trip to Popeyes in the US. Liz was the one that brought me and I loved their biscuits! Went to their website to look at their menu and suddenly had cravings for their Cajun rice, biscuits, mashed potatoes and chicken ....

I told my bro about it and he too wanted to go. So we, us siblings and Ash, went on Sat. We decided to go to the newly opened one at T3 (Terminal 3) but I guess maybe we should have gone to the more established one instead. However, we were interested in looking at the new T3.

---

Oh... it sure brought back memories, remember driving down to the ghetto side of Lansing .. haha. Fun times, right Liz?

It was a long wait at the line, turns out we were not the only Sporeans that had cravings for chicken too. We pondered at the menu while waiting and I was drooling at the pic of the Cajun rice. Unfortunately they do not have Jambalaya which was featured on the website. They do not have Mac and Cheese either ... sob :(

We finally got to the counter and was told after we ordered that they ran out of biscuits. They went to the other terminal to get it and it would take some time. We were also told that there was no Cajun rice, no red bean and rice and not DIET coke! ARGH! Everything that I wanted wasn't available! We decided to wait for the biscuits instead of taking their offer of replacing it for another side.

---

My sis taking her artistic shot .... but then forgot ... oops, I mean "accidentally deleted" shots of the mashed potatoes that was really yummy. The gravy was a special Cajun gravy with spices and the mashed potatoes did not taste fake. Coleslaw was also not bad, yup, no pic either.

---

Cajun Fries. Yummy but would have been even better if they were just fried. Reminds me of Owen's seasoned fries.

---

Popcorn shrimp. This is the measly portion of 9 shrimp. We could have gotten almost 3 pieces of chicken for the price we paid. And because it wasn't popular, it had been sitting under the heat lamp for awhile and wasn't really crispy.

---

Chicken strips. These were good, but also fried way before hand. Ash enjoyed them alot and she said that she would order these again instead of the pieces of chicken.,

---

Chicken!! The chicken were really good! Spicy and crispy. Ash said that they tasted more like chicken than those at KFC which just bland.

---

We had to wait about 45 mins after we ordered to get our biscuits. Turns out that it comes unmixed and they had to mix it up and baked them for 11mins. They were worth the wait! I absolutely love them and had 2 while everyone else had one. Plus, they were hot out of the oven which made them taste so much better. They might not be as good as the ones in the US but they were definitely good enough. I only wish they had honey and/or butter but they only had strawberry jam. Whatever, I ate the second one neat! Heehee :)

The trip had it ups and downs ... service was slow, did not offer some of the things that I wanted, did not have stk of the items that was on the menu, ran out of biscuits, etc. Even with all the hiccups, we all decided that we would go back to Popeyes again. As my brother said, its a new outlet, there would be teething problems. However, the next time, we will go to the one at T1.

Chicken, anyone? :)

Wasn't planning on going out today but when I received an email yesterday informing me about a Sanrio Fair, I dragged my sis out! The fair is at Isetan Scotts and will be until the 16th. Yes, I need more Little Twin Star things!

That was the first stop for the day and I was a little disappointed as it was a pretty small fair compared to the one at Taka. However, I still managed to find some things.

---

These are the items I got at the fair. A shower cap, scissors and a monitor and keyboard cover.

After collecting the watch that we sent for repair a couple of days ago, I proceeded to drag my sis to more LTS hunting. We made a wrong stop as I mixed up the train stations. It turns out that there are TWO Sanrio shops near Novena MRT. The new place actually had quite a few items that I have only seen at the Sanrio Fairs. They had the monitor and keyboard cover that I just bought too.

---

This was what my sis bought for me at the store as a bday gift. I really love it but was hesitant as there was no Kiki (the boy) cushion. And it was pricey ... $30. Ok, not that pricey, I don't know why I hesitate sometimes, prob cos I already have so many LTS stuff and I'm not getting any younger. But isn't she cute?

Kiki and Lala bring a smile to my face every time. I have to thank all the ppl that indulge me, including my sis, Elsie, Huiyi, etc ... I know sometimes I whine about liking a certain color of LTS, but I do love everything that get :) Geeze, can u imagine if I like every version of LTS that comes out?

We then made our way back to Orchard where we did chinese new year shopping. We both needed new clothes. My sis got a few casual tops from Wisma and then we headed down to Taka. Could not find anything but by then I was starving. So we headed to Pepper Lunch.

---

My sis got the slice beef with rice. Here's the before ....

And here's after she mixed everything up. Really like the rice as it had all the seasoning and stuff but I think if I finish that, I will definitely feel carb guilty.

---

Here's what I ordered. Also beef but thicker chunks and it comes with bean sprouts, an egg and a separate bowl of rice.

Here's the after. Only ate a small portion of my rice but finished everything else. Kinda cool that the restaurant provides a spray for your clothes as u tend to smell of food after u leave.

After dinner, we did more shopping. Found a pair of shoes for my mom, and we both found dresses at Hereen. CNY shopping is half done! Pretty good day for both of us. We were filled with bags coming home and were dead tired.

Tomorrow's another day!

Wednesday, January 9, 2008

Went out with my sis today to catch a movie with one of the many free passes I had. We went to catch National Treasure as my bro said it was good. We wanted to go back to that little dim sum place near our hse but it was pouring so we had our mom just drop us at the train station.

There were plenty of underpasses in Orchard, so we did not get wet. We first had to bring my mom's watch down for servicing as she said that her watch has been running fast. It was a long wait at the Swatch Group repair center at Wheelock Place. Yes, I was kinda surprised to be sending an Omega watch to such a relatively cheap brand place. Haha, but it turns out they fix quite alot of other watches there too. It was a LONG wait, but the ppl there were quite friendly.

Tried to pass it off as my watch but when she started asking questions about how the watch is placed while not in use, I stumbled as I do not notice. By the time we were done at the place, we had to rush off to our movie. We managed to sneak in a couple servings of curly fries to curb our hunger for a good meal later.

The show was pretty exciting and we both enjoyed ourselves. After a few pit stops at some sanrio places, we made our way to Clark Quay to ...

---

Pasta de Waraku!

It was another long wait for our table but because I gobbled down almost a full bag of chips while watching the movie, I wasn't starving. It was kinda nice that they gave the ppl waiting in line something to drink at some point.

By the time we sat down, I was ready for food! Ironic how the moment we sat down, ALL the other tables started to clear. I could see 3 or 4 empty tables .. ARGH!

---

Lucky table 7. And our queue number is 17!

---

The little bowl of salad that came with the pasta. My sis took forever to get her "perfect" shot but did not succeed. This was taken by me :)

---

This was their Soup Pasta with Mushrooms and Chicken. At first taste it was a disappointment as it was quite bland. So we added more Parmesan cheese, pepper and chili pepper. After which, it tasted yummy. After we were done with it, I overheard the waiter telling the table beside us that they have run out of cream sauce ... hmm... I wonder if that is the reason it was bland? The cook must have stretched out the last of his cream sauce for us by added more water and then thickening it?

---

This was the best! I absolutely LOVE their pizzas as they have a uber thin crust. The scallops were nice and tender ... notice the three sizes? Wonder if it is done on purpose? Everyone gets 2 large, medium and small? Haha.... The shrimp was also done perfectly, not tough at all. I could eat this all on my own!

Was so full that I told my sis to skip dessert. She usually buys dessert and I, the meal .... great deal right? Haha .... Anyway, she owes me one!
