Goodbye 2008!

First of all, lets not forget its Ben's bday too! Happy Birthday Ben! :)

There weren't plans on what to do until the day itself. I really did not want to go to some countdown party that was packed and loud. I was lazy ... and feeling old :(

While "working" my half day on new year's eve, we decided that we would just meet for dinner, then a movie and come out just in time to ring in the new year.

KL suggested Black Angus, the irony in this is that KL doesn't eat beef.

It has a country feel to it and throughout the nite, country music was playing. Dixie Chicks, woohoo!

I love their salt and pepper shakers.

Umm, some strawberry drink?

And .. I have no idea :P

Guess who chose a beer instead? :D

Our entree came with a salad.

KL chose the soup.

Huiyi and I shared a black pepper steak with garlic mashed potatoes, fried onion thingies and veggies. I absolutely loved this whole dish. Potatoes were garlicky, beef was tender, onions thingy were addictive and veggies were lightly seasoned.

KL had the chicken teriyaki.

Their mudpie with fudge .... wish they had poured the fudge over for us. Its hard to pour when it has cooled down.

Chocolate cake with ice cream.

It was a great meal but a tad expensive. Our bill was $132 .... haha, maybe we should have ordered 1 dessert.

After dinner, we made our way to Lido where we watched 7 Pounds starring Will Smith. The movie was slow in the beginning and quite sad ....

We came out of the cinema at about 11.20pm and made our way to Starbucks. Surprisingly it wasn't crowded at all.

Me, Huiyi and KL .... the 3 musketeers!

It was there that we rang in the New Year. Nothing wild and crazy, just something simple with my close friends. Guess it beats being home alone and watching the second hand reach 12.

Hope that the new year would be a better one .....

P.S. Thanks to Huiyi for all the pics. My sis had the camera but in the end she did not take a single pic!

Happy Birthday to ME!

It was my bday and since it was a mile stone bday, I decided it was worth celebrating :) Haha, if u guys remember, I did not want to celebrate mine last year and so it was just a meet up at Starbucks.

I had also wanted to go on a ride on the Singapore Flyer but it decided to BREAKDOWN! Well, there is always next year ... wonder if they would be giving out free tics when it starts operating again?

Anyway, I decided to have my bday dinner at Sushi Tei as I had their privilege card that had a 20% discount during my bday mth and also a $10 voucher that was soon to expire. Plus, I love jap food!

Chicken cutlet, Eel, Seafood Soup and Beef.

Baby Octopus, Soft Shell Crab Roll, Chawanmushi and Beef with Enoki Mushrooms.

Scallop, Peas, Jellyfish and Mayo Tuna.

Sashimi Salad, Various Sushi, some Prawn Sushi and Salmon Sashimi.

My bday cake .... yes, u can see how OLD I am :P. The cake was really yummy, not too sweet but still chocolaty.

KL, Evon, Tingjia, her hubby, Huiyi, Me, my Sis and YL.

My sis and YL even got me presents! Haha, but u got to go to my other blog to see it as they are LTS stuff .. hehe. Will update that soon, so check it out!

After dinner, we headed to Coffee Bean for drinks and more chatting. However, because it was a Tues, most shops closed early. We left Vivo at 11+pm and Evon gave us a lift home. On the way home, at the stroke of midnight, we made a bday call to Ben to wish him a happy bday.

It has been awhile since we have both celebrated our bday together ... wonder when we would do so again....

I had a great time with my friends and sis. Thanks everyone for a really happy bday!

BBQ at home.

My mom decided that I needed to celebrate my bday at home and so she chose a BBQ as we had not had one in the longest time. It was going happen with or without me but in the end, I decided to just show up for my own bday party ... haha.

Definitely needed some wine. This is supposedly some cheap S$13 bottle that my dad got from NTUC. Its actually not bad considering the price, not dry.

Chicken wings, thighs, satay, tau pok and mutton were part of the menu.

And Otah!

My bro and Ash got me a cake from Pine Garden.

Ignore the mess behind ... concentrate on the YOUNG bday gal!

Making a wish ...

One breath, one breath!

Yummy cake :)

Ate till I was stuffed like a turkey! After a quick shower, my sis and I headed to my bro's hse to play some games. We were there till 4+am!

Slept in the next day :P Which is also the last day of my leave :( Its back to work on Mon.

NOOOOO!!!!

Met up with LC.

It has been a long long time since I met up with LC. We finally decided to meet up on Fri as it was after Xmas ... LC is really busy during the holidays season and since I was also off on Fri, it was perfect!

We first met for lunch and I chose Din Tai Fung as it has been a long time since I had 小笼包 ;) We went to the outlet at Wisma but it was packed! So we decided to walk down a little and head to the outlet at Paragon. There was the same amt of ppl there but the Paragon outlet was almost 3 times bigger!

We sat at a corner and chatted while waiting for our number to be called. It was about a 20-30mins wait b4 we got seated and by that time we were starved! Thus ... no pics! Haha :)

After lunch we did a little shopping at Taka and then back to Wisma. She managed to get a shirt for GX for CNY. I did not get anything :P After all the walking, we decided it was time for dessert!

This is a new place at Wisma.

It has the country inn type of feel ....

I got a Chocolate Milkshake.

LC had the Vanilla Milkshake

They were really yummy and not uberly sweet like some milkshakes that I have had. Plus, they gave a ginormous scoop of ice cream!

But they really need to coordinate better so that both ppl get their drinks at the same time. Ours were about 5-10mins apart. The table beside us was worse! One lady finished her drink and her friend's drink still had not arrived.

Their apple pie was delicious too! The pastry was nice and crumbly, not tough.

LC and I.

After dessert, we walked down to Wheelock where it was a short meet up with KL, Huiyi, my sis and YL. We just stood around at the entrance of Borders chit chatting. The rest have not seen her in the longest time too!

After the party disbanded, my sis, YL and I headed down to Bugis for some LTS hunting! Haha, LC also gave me some LTS stuff .... looks like I have gotta update my other blog soon. Damn, I am so behind :P

Btw, congrats to LC and GX ;)

Xmas Eve with Friends

*Edit* Oops, I forgot the very impt Jello shots that my sis and YL made :(

Seems like Xmas @ Christine and TY's is a tradition now :) This year we decided to do a potluck so that it would be less work. I took the eve off as I wasn't sure if it was going to be a half day for me and I did not want to be stuck at work it is wasn't.

My sis, her bf and I got there first as my mom was the one that dropped us off. Everyone was told to arrive at 6.30pm but as usual, ppl will start to slowly arrive after 6.30pm.

While waiting, we started snacking on the Spinach Dip that I made.

Here's all most of the food. Chye Huat came late with the ham so it wasn't in the pic. We were too hungry to wait :P

Here's a breakdown on who brought what ...
Christine and TY - Spring rolls, wings and samosas
Jeannie and William - Sushi
Huiyi - Curry
Kelvin - Satay
Sis and YL - Sausages wrapped with bacon AND JELLO SHOTS
Evon - Potato Salad
KL - Bee Hoon
Oliver - Log cake
Me - Spinach Dip!

It was a whole lot of food!

Huiyi and Adela.

Her Xmas dinner ... milk!

Guess who stopped by for 10mins? Lina! I have not seen her in the longest time!

After dinner there was dessert! Chocolate fondue with a real cool fondue machine :)

And then it was gift exchange time .... most of us did not end up with the gift we first picked :P

After dessert, we passed time playing Taboo! and Heart Attack. It was really fun, esp Heart Attack when some guys were unable to coordinate their hands ... LOL!

Before long, it was close to midnight and it was time to ring in Xmas!

We brought out the log cake.

And the champagne :)

Evon and I.

My sis and YL.

Haha .. someone was excited about the champagne :)

It was a real nice nite and we stay till about 2am playing games, laughing till my stomach was in stitches. Unfortunately all good things must come to an end .....

Till next year! Merry Christmas everyone!

P.S. Thanks to Evon and her tripod for the grp pic she took!

Quick update ....

Oh my ... I have not been updating in a long time! Haha, guess what? HKO is back! Well, only for a few days, so I have been a little occupied ;) It will end on 22 Dec, 2359hrs Est time. And then god knows when it would be back :(

Anyway, the only exciting that happened this past week was that I had my hair rebonded! I was sick and tired of flat ironing my hair in the morning. And even then, by the end of the day, it would be messy and curly again!

Thought about it for a long time and I finally went to set up an appointment on Fri nite. On Sat, I went to the salon and sat for more than 4hrs, getting my hair rebonded and dyeing it. Its not a drastic color and I love how straight my hair is now.

I could not wash my hair the day after and was told to only wash it on Mon. Today is Mon and I can't stand it ... my hair is oily and I desperately want to wash it! Can't wait to go home.... hope that it still looks good after the first wash. I'm not expecting it to look like when I left the salon, but neither do I want it to suddenly become a frizz bomb!

I actually took a pic of my hair right after I came back but I was so busy with HKO that I was too lazy to upload and post. Sigh, I can hear all the groans my friends are making .... yes, those from across the ocean!

This week is going to be a short week for me. I'll be on leave on the 24th and 26th. Don't think we are having a half day on Xmas eve and since I am having an Xmas party on that day, I decided to just take the day off. I did not want to be stuck in the office till 7pm on Xmas eve!

And it looks like I would also be celebrating my bday this weekend ... my mom is planning a family BBQ .... sigh, just the thought of a "family" meal really gets me down. Well, I made no promises that I would attend, because I hate celebrating my bday anything with my family. It just ends up with one big argument after another. Its really hard to explain ....

Oh well, I will also be meeting up with LC this weekend. Have not seen her in forever! We are going to have alot of catching up to do.

Hmm ... what else .... I wonder if I will be doing what I had hoped to do last year. A few ppl guessed it but so far no plans :(

If u work in a shoe shop ....

Isn't the first rule they teach u to "Check to see both shoes are the same size when selling them!" so that this won't happen ....

DUH!

My sis bought this pair of shoes from Bugis Street ... sigh ... she had to go back to change them. Luckily the other mismatched pair was still there.

Hari Raya Haji with 我们

It was a public holiday here in Singapore so we decided to meet up. I went out with my sis earlier to do a little shopping, got some Little Twin Stars stuff and also a dress! I'm thinking I will keep the dress for Chinese New Year's ....

We (KL, O, Huiyi, my sis and I) met at Vivo at about 3.30pm, waiting for Evon to come pick us up to go to Keppal Marina. Was surprised to see O there as KL said he would not be free.

Carrot cake .... I thought it was a tat dry.

Organic Portabella Mushroom Salad. I loved this! The brown sauce is balsamic vinegar, the white stuff is cheese and it had nuts! YUM!

Warm Wholewheat bread. Delicious too ... I love multi grain/wholewheat bread.

We hung out at Keppal Marina for a few hrs, just sitting and chatting. It was raining the whole day and it was a little cold as we were seated outside. At about 6+, we left and headed to Suntec for dinner. O did not join us as he had to head home.

It took us a long time to decide what we wanted to eat, walking around the fountain area and ending with a round of "Rock, paper, scissors" In the end, we decided on this Korean restaurant.

My set which included, chicken, rice, dumplings and soup.

Huiyi and Evon had the bulgogi.

Chicken Ramen (I think)

Beef Ramen (I think) ... they both look alike, I can't tell them apart!

This is ... haha, I have no idea, it came with KL's set.

We also shared a mini chicken steamboat.

That was a shitload of food and I was seriously stuffed after that. The food was ok ... I think I like the one near PS better. Moreover, there was this waitress there that was obviously loving her job while she noisily dump empty bowls and plates onto a bucket. And also, just because u are wearing a glove doesn't mean it is sanitary ..... u don't wear a glove to serve a bowl and then use the same glove to clear the tables.

Don't think I will be going back to that place again :P

After dinner, we did some last min shopping ... or should I say, Evon did some shopping :) She got a pair of shoes and bag for herself and another bag as a gift for her friend. After that, it was home for us ..... it was a work day on Tues :(
