Crap, think I am falling sick. Had a scratchy throat yesterday, then the chills, took 2 panadols aka aspirins and then started to feel clammy. Not feeling any better today, but at least I don't have a fever.

My mom bday is this Sun but we are going to go eat on Sat. Think we are making our way down to East Coast, Tung Lok for lunch. Ordered a cake as my mom has been bugging us about a coffee cheesecake since forever! Wonder how the 5 of us are going to finish a whole cake... I wonder if it would be as good as the one we had at Cedeles on Sat.

Hope I will be feeling better by then .... *touches forehead* Damn! It's a tad warm ...going to go drug myself again ... Adios!

Food, Food and more Food!

We have been talking about going down to try beef noodles, personally cooked by chef GX. We finally found a weekend when he would be at the store and so we planned to go. The whole gang was supposed to go but then .... sigh ... Evon was still stuck at work, could not rush down (she doesn't eat beef anyway). Shanice is still suffering from jet lag. Ben had his annual D & D tonite and had a haircut appointment at 4pm said it was too rush. KL had to work and he doesn't eat beef either....

So it was Huiyi and I!

---

The store is located at the Whampoa Temporary Mkt. They will be moving to their permanent place either next mth or Dec. Met Huiy at Novena and then we took a cab down, GX said it would be easier. No arguements from me as I hate taking the bus here. LC was already there when we arrived, she was waiting for us to start eating.

---

Here he is cooking our noodles. That's his mom who served us constantly and did not take $ from us. A bit paiseh .... thanks aunty!

---

Hard at work .. that's his dad, making sure he doesn't screw up .. haha, kidding!

---

The final product! Dry Beef Noodles. YUM!

---

---

Huiyi and I enjoying our beef noodles :)

Ok, so here's my review ... haha. I loved it ... honestly! I like that the sauce was NOT the super thick, super black kind (which looked and tasted fake to me) This was the right consistency and it tasted yummy! The soup was also very flavorful! Hmm, might have to try the soup one the next time as even GX said he preferred that.

Well, supposedly this is the Teochew style of beef noodles, the OTHER kind sometimes have salted veggies in it ... yuck! I guess my Teochew side loves Teochew Beef Noodles and my Cantonese side loves Cantonese Beef Hor Fun!!! Haha :) I love BEEF!!

Here's the other stuff we ordered.

---

Fried Carrot Cake.

---

Fried Egg with Oyster.

---

Rojak.

So full!!! Wish that damn place was more accessible .... hmm, maybe I'll try to convince my mom to go down. Die ... she is going to start yakking with his mom, hmm, think it might be a bad idea.

Gx got off work at 3pm and so we headed down to Novena for some coffee, well, LC and GX had drinks but Huiyi and I were too full. Moreover, we still had round 2, didn't want to get more stuffed.

After say bye to GX and LC, I dragged Huiyi to a Sanrio shop at Novena. Have not been there in ages as it is a little out of the way. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea as I found even more stuff!!

Here's what I got ...

---

Metal tin with chocolate candy inside :)

---

Ang Bao, got 2 .... yes, like I give out so many ang baos.

---

Note pad.

---

Letter writing set. Even more variety than the one I got yesterday!! Yes, as if I sent out so many letters :)

We then made our way down to Orchard. We were early but was afraid that we would not be able to get a seat so we headed to the restaurant first. Where? Sushi Tei at Paragon ... it was deja vu. Christine chose the place and I honestly did not mind as I love jap food.

Here's what we ordered ....

---

Salmon Sashimi, Flying Fish Roe Sushi (2 plates) and Jellyfish.

---

Scallop.

---

Sashimi Salad, the one that my sis is hooked on (she was at Serangoon Gardens eating the exact same thing as this was happening). On the right is Calamari, jap style :)

---

Salmon Belly Miso Soup.

---

Tiger Prawn w/ Avocado Sushi

---

Fried Tofu.

---

Grilled Eel.

We were so full as we finished EVERYTHING u just saw. Well, we made KL finish everything after we girls threw in the towel.

We then walked a little to allow for all the food to digest a little. After which, it was time for dessert! Off to Cedeles at Wheelock Place.

---

Chocolate Mocha Marble Cheesecake and Carrot Walnut. They were both yummy, the cheesecake was chocolaty and coffeery (yes, it's not a real word) enough, the carrot cake was moist and not too sweet.

---

Brownie w/ Strawberry Ice Cream .... why strawberry? Let me explain ...

---

See the sign, it showed the list of flavors available. First choice chocolate, but when the waiter came to take our orders, we were told that they were out of chocolate and vanilla (who the hell runs out of vanilla?!?!) So we chose Macadamia Madness, he came back a few mins later, sorry, they are out too. So we are left with 3 choices, KL did not want sorbet and we know he doesn't like mango, what's left? Yes, Strawberry!

But it turn out to be quite nice, there were actual strawberries in the ice cream and it did not taste fake like most I have tasted.

---

Me, Huiyi and Christine .... this whole nite was to celebrate her bday which was yesterday. KL and I weren't free so we made it today. I planned the date with my sis b4!! I did not choose Little Twin Stars over my friends!

---

Huiyi and Christine.

---

KL and I. The guy my mom thinks is interested in me ... haha, if only she knew better.

And finally .....

SHANICE! This is for u!

Sanrio Fair!

I have known about the Sanrio Fair happening at Taka from a few weeks back. The salesgirl at the Taka Sanrio told me about it the last time I was there. So I had planned to go there on the 1st day of the fair, no matter what :)

I met my sis after she got done with a paper and we first made our way to Far East, to my fave 2nd hand bkstore. Finally found the book I was looking for. We then headed to Taka and OMG, there was so many ppl there!! And they were all adults! We split up and went hunting for Little Twin Star goodies! There was quite alot of good stuff, I collected everything I like and then had to narrow down the purchases.

These are what I got ...

---

Large pouch. Got 2, one for me and another for my sis.

---

Medium pouch, this is about A4 size.

---

Small pouch.

---

This is a cell phone pouch, have one already but wanted another one ... it was cheap, only $3.95 :)

---

Name tags .... so cute!!

---

Hand towel set. Have been seeing it on ebay but it was kinda exp there. So happy to find it there.

---

Letter set! This was a best buy I think ... Usual price was $23.95, got it for $9.95. Plus it was the LAST one and one girl asked me where I got it from, told her "There..." then proceeded to grab on to it even tighter!

Bought another 2 items for LC but did not take pics of them. Gave it to her already, hope she likes them :) The fair is till Nov 7. They have alot more Hello Kitty stuff .. thank god I'm not crazy abt them.

After my spending spree, we headed to Sushi Tei at Paragon. My sis has had sushi cravings since the beginning of this week! This was her first time to Sushi Tei and I think I have created a MONSTER!! She LOVES the Sashimi Salad!! We ordered a shit load of food which they could barely squeeze onto the counter seats we were at.

The food is SO much better than Sakae, think I will never go back to Sakae .... Sushi Tei, more atas too .. heehee

NO MORE COLOR COORDINATION PLEASE!!

Before u guys start reading this, I will be the first to admit that I am being mean, so don't tell me that, ok?

Anyway, my mom has the habit of color coordination EVERYTHING!! That explains her huge collection of bags and shoes. If she has a red outfit, she must carry a red handbag with red shoes. Blue, blue handbag, blue shoes, light blue outfit, light blue handbag and shoes ... u get the drift?

We (us siblings) have tried to tell her a few times that she needs to stop it but she just think it looks great!

---

This is a recent pic with her community members with their new shirt. As u can see, everyone matched it with neutral colored pants.

Scroll down to see what my mom wore ...

I am not a fashion expert, but am I the only one that think it is not at all flattering? The only thing that comes to my mind is "ribbit".

There are some colors that u can wear a full outfit with, but some just make u look like, an orange, Barney, Big Bird, etc

Sigh, guess she is not going to change .... and guess what she wants for her bday? A pink leather handbag!

Pepto-Bismol, anyone?!?!

My dad has left S'pore again, back to his second home .. Germany. He is supposed to be there for another mth, we'll see if that is true. The good news is that he will not be cooking, my mom will cook less and I won't be tempted to eat :)

My mom has been pretty good the few weeks my dad was home, but guess where was she the night AFTER my dad left? U got it! Back to the "one arm bandit".

Anway, my mom just pissed me off ... what's new? Well, my mom is an active member in the community, she is Treasurer (I think) and after one meeting a few mths back, she came home and asked us for suggestions to improve our neighborhood.

The one thing that bugged me was that there is this path beside a playground that I take walking to the mrt. They would turn off the lights at 11.40pm or so, so if I would to catch the last train home, it would be pitch black while walking back. Oh, I should also mention that there are a few sectional walls that RAPISTS and ROBBERS could hide behind!!

Anyway, I just told my my mom that I wish they could just leave it on for abt 10-15 more mins after the last train (abt midnight?) has left .... thought it would be a simple thing, but NO....

She told me that she told the ppl abt it and they want to hear from me PERSONALLY to make sure that it was a REAL complain.

WTF?!?! They think ppl 吃饱没屁放 (eat full no fart) izzit?!?!

She wanted me to call them .. I told her no, I don't want to talk to anyone, I've already talked to her. I do not want to get involved. What is the problem? What are the making the whole process so tedious? Then she asked if I wanted them to call me (yes, my mom doesn't listen, she just talks) I told her NO! I do not want to talk to anyone!! I told her if they are going to make it so difficult, then forget it, don't do it. I'm not interested, I'll just risk my life .... haha, so drama right?

I'm just not interested in getting involved. I did my part by telling my community leaders, it is for them to solve it. I don't want the trouble involved. If I am the only one complaining then FORGET IT!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD & GOR!

Yes, we went out to eat again ... we went back to the place that we originally thought of holding my dad's bday dinner at. We decided against it as the place wasn't fancy enough .... or as 我们 would say, not atas enough :) It's a restaurant located at Turf City called Ah Yat. They have a special 50% off all seafood on weekdays, u get to choose your seafood food from fish tanks located just outside the restautant.

---

Before dinner started, my bro opened his bday gift from a whole bunch of ppl. We wrapped it up in layers of paper and he was about half way thru. Loved his expression here :) Inside was a controller to the Wii. Told him that was it but after he started pouting, told him that the full set was in the car :) Hope he loves it! Even though it wasn't a modified version ...

Btw, yes, that is red wine in front of me .... I had recovered from my nite of drunkeness and the sight and smell of wine no longer makes me want to puke .. haha

---

This was all the chilli that my mom asked for everyone (6 of us, 5 as Ash didn't eat any) BEFORE they started serving the dishes. We are a family of chilli eaters! Well, majority was my mom's.

---

Fresh Oysters! Yummy! Mine was super huge!

---

Fried Shrimp with Oats. LOVED this dish!!

---

On the left is Frog Legs and Lettuce on the right. The forg legs were really spicy, which was perfect for us, I guess :)

---

Black Pepper Crab ... yes, half eaten plate, too busy eating .. haha

---

Steamed Fish .. think it is Garupa. Very nice and fresh!

---

Chilli Crab. Did not have much of this as I was lazy and did not want to get all messy eating crab.

After dinner, we headed to Adam Road for dessert at the hawker center there. It was a really fun nite :) That's it, no more big meals till my mom's bday in Nov!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!!

My dad is celebrating his 60th bday this year and for Cantonese ppl, it is a really big bday, thus we threw a dinner and invited all our family members. Btw, in case u guys don't know, my bro and dad share the same bday, 17th Oct. We will be going out on the actual day for dinner again, so watch out for more pics! :)

The dinner was held at Gim Tim restaurant at the Grassroots Club, located near YCK MRT. Choosing a place to have the dinner was a tedious affair, but I won't go into that. My dad was the one that chose the place after comparing menus.

---

My sis and I photo whoring in the car on the way there :) Yes, I'm still hungover from the nite b4 ... head still hurt.

---

The first dish ... Longevity Buns. A must have for the older generation's bdays here.

---

The we had Lobster with Jellyfish and Clams. This was really yummy ....

---

"Photo of Shark's Fin dish"

SOMEONE was too busy eating and FORGOT to take a pic of it! Didn't even take a half eaten bowl of it!!! SIGH!! This was good, not your usual shark's fin as it has enoki mushrooms and wanton in it. There were actually chunks of shark's fin!

---

Suckling Pig. Good but our pig was really fatty ... there was a thick layer of fat underneath the crispy skin.

---

Fish with Fungus and Mushrooms. Not too bad, ate alot of the mushrooms and fungus.

---

Scallop in Yam. Felt that this was really oily and could not really taste the scallop as the yam was a little over powering.

---

Abalone with Veggies and Mushrooms. Think they sliced the abalone days b4 as the all stuck to each other, had to pry them apart!

---

Herbal Prawns (or should I say, Herbal Shrimp!) Love the herbal soup, prawns were big enough that it wasn't a struggle peeling them.

---

The bday boy and his wife .. haha, my dad and mom!

---

One of the few pics of my dad that u would actually see him smile .. he is usually so SERIOUS!

---

My sis, I and cousin Charmaine ... the future lawyer of our family .. hehe :)

---

The two girls in front are the same ones that I went to the zoo with. Lui Zheng and Shuan Ying. The boy behind is Raven.

---

A real cutie pie!

---

Noodles with Pork and Shrimp. Nothing fantastic ...

---

Eating noodles with her special fork!

---

The little one getting fed by her dad.

---

My mom's side of the family ... a lot of them could not make it, not that I am complaining!

---

My dad's side of the family. There were a few missing from the pic as they were at the toilet :(

---

Dessert ... Yam Paste with Coconut Milk. Wished it had some Gingko nuts in it. However, it was not too sweet, which was good for me.

---

The bday cake, a 3kg cake Blackforrest cake from Pine Garden. The same place that my bro got his wedding cake. The cake was really good, it had some rum in it which made it taste even better!

My parents.

---

Making his wish ...

---

Family pic.

It was a really fun nite, other than the fact that my mom drove us kids nuts!! I could not believe she went to my table to tell them how much each table cost! It's one thing if ppl asked about it, but if u are the one giving the treat, u don't go around telling how much it cost! Just felt like she was trying to boast. So pissed off!

The other thing she did was, I felt, unforgivable .. but I guess it is not really for me to forgive or not .... sometimes I really don't understand my mom I will never understand my mom!
