Dim Sum Buffet!

Haha, we have been talking about Dim Sum Buffet since Shanice was in the US. Now that she is back, we finally get to go!

This was the same place that they took my sis for her bday when I was not around. Its called Zhou's Kitchen and it by the Tung Luk group, so the food was pretty good.

We got there pretty late and the buffet was going to end in 15mins! Luckily, we talked to the person in charged and she told us that we would stay till 3pm (it was supposed to end at 2pm)

Check out the amt of food that we ordered! But it only occurred to me when I got home that we did not have any siew mai!

The gang ... Christine was going to pop anytime.

We headed down to Orchard to check out some baby stuff @ Toys R Us but did not end up buying anything. My sis had to leave first as she had promised my mom that she would go to some dialogue session that my mom was helping to organize. I told her I would go back later so that we could drive my dad to work. My mom is still worried about having my sis drive alone, esp at nite.

Shanice, Huiyi, Evon and I headed to Starbucks @ Wisma where it was more talk and gossip :) But it wasn't too long b4 it was time for me to go.

I text my sis so that they could pick me up from the MRT station and we would go to the airport straight. However, my dad was driving and instead of heading to work, he drove home. At first I thought maybe it was too early and he wanted to go home for a short while, cool down a little b4 going. However, when we got home, my dad started to look really flustered.

He said that he wasn't feeling well and was trying to find a thermometer. He said that he has most of the symtoms that is stated on the after care sheet so he needed to check his temperature.

Even though he did not have a fever, he was feeling real bad and so called in to work and we drove him to the A&E.

Because of the H1N1, everyone had to put on a mask when we entered the hospital.

We were given a number.

It was a long wait .. we got there at about 2100hrs and there didn't seemed to be alot of ppl but still it was a long waiting session.

I entertained myself by login onto the hospital's WIFI and then msning my friends. They were discussing about the Europe trip.

My dad finally came out close to midnight and told us he would be admited. They told him he could go home with the tube inserted but he did not want to have to deal with it on his own.

They were able to clear the old clot and thus there was no more blood present.

There was no more A1 ward so he had to stay in a 4 sharing ward.

By the time we left the hospital, it was 0045hrs. I was dead tired and had to find my way home. Luckily it wasn't that hard to figure out and once I got to the CTE, it was the home stretch from there.

P.S. My dad got discharged from the hospital and is on 8 days medical leave. He is doing fine. Thanks for all the well wishes :)

Kuala Lumpur for the day ...

I had to go to KL for the day to meet some potential customers. It has been a long long time since I have stepped foot into Malaysia. I think the last time I was in JB was more than 10 years ago. I have never been to KL b4.

We took Malaysian Airlines there .. it was a 0650hrs flight .. way too early in the morning.

The cab ride to town took more than 1 hr because of the slight morning traffic. We got to our first stop, met with the customer whom for some reason didn't shake my hand ... is it some weird custom that I do not know about?

We had lunch with a supplier and after which we had time and so we headed to the famous Twin Towers in KL

Hmm .. are they still the tallest buildings in the world?

This is a branded goods heaven.

Of cos I did not buy anything from there :P Just walked around exploring the mall. Did not stay there long as we had yet another appointment to go to.

After our last appointment, we headed to Sungai Wang. We hung out around there for awhile b4 having to head back to the airport to catch the last flight back to SGP that day.

The flight back was @ 2245hrs but it got delayed and we did not make it back to SGP until after midnight :(

Long and tiring day .. I'm glad we were able to convince our boss to let us go into work after lunch the next day :)

Shanice is back!

Shanice is back from the US and on Sat, Evon, Huiyi and I met up with her. I have not seen her in ages, unlike Evon and HY who saw her when they were in Las Vegas.

We had You Tiao or "Fried Dough Sticks" at the little corner shop at Novena Square

We were there for a pretty long time gossiping ... esp over this certain newspaper article ... haha :P

After our tea break, we headed down to Jalan Kayu.

We ate had Wonton Mee with wings and fried dumplings. The wings were really yummy and it brought back pri sch days memories.

We decided to head to the Xin Wang across from my hse for our third stop but when we got there, the place was PACKED! Since Shanice had a craving for McDonald's fries (hahaha, she comes back from USA and wants to eat McDonald's fries?!?!) we headed to the nearby Macs.

A little coffee art to brighten someone's day ;)

We had plans to go back to Xing Wang but after sitting for so long at Macs, we got too comfy and so we stayed there the rest of the nite.

Welcome Zuo Yibing 左怡冰

Tingjia and Zuo Wei welcomed their healthy 3105gm baby girl on 16 Jun. It was a pretty long labor for TJ but both mother and daughter are now doing fine.

Huiyi and I went down to visit them @ Mount Elizabeth. Shanice was supposed to go too but had a headache so did not. We got there about 7.45pm and stayed till past 9pm. No one came by to chase us away :P

Anyone want to buy 4D? Hahaha.

She was sound asleep for a few moments.

Opening her eyes to peep .... who are u? what do u want? why are u taking pics of me? WWWAAAAHHHHH! Ok, I'm done ... nite :)

Well, actually she wasn't. She started crying as she was hungry and so TJ had to feed her. TJ is doing complete breastfeeding which can be real frustrating the first few days when the milk hasn't fully started.

2 babies, one more to go ... my prediction is 22nd June. Hahaha, lets see how accurate I am, if it is really that day, EVERYONE needs to go buy TOTO, ok?

Day Out with my Sis

I knew that after the Lady Gaga showcase the nite b4, I would not be in the mood to work and so I decided to take the day off :) I woke up pretty late and after grabbing a quick bite and lazing around for awhile, my sis and I headed to town.

We went to Haagen Dazs as I had a SGD20 voucher.

"This waffle alone cost us SGD5?!?!?"

After the afternoon snack, we went to walk around Orchard. The Great Singapore Sale (GSS) is on and so many shops had discounted items but that also meant they were PACKED! But since it was a Mon, it was relatively ok.

Unfortunately nothing caught our fancy and so we decided to grab dinner b4 heading home.

This is the newly opened Sushi Tei @ Paragon. Its a lot bigger and has a spectacular view.

Our usual Sashimi Salad ...

We really gorged ourselves. The serving sizes were pretty generous.

After dinner, we were so stuffed that we decided to walk down from Paragon to Plaza Singapura b4 taking the train home from there.

Its back to work tmr ... boohoo :'(

Going Gaga Over Lady Gaga!

I don't really know when I started liking Lady Gaga but her song Poker Face is really catchy. Me and my sis have this thing going that whenever someone hears the song, we would text the other the person "Can't read my, can't read my.." and the other will have to reply "No, u can't read my Poker Face"

Haha, yes, we are lame that way ... bite me :P

Anyway, my sis saw an ad on TV a week ago saying Lady Gaga would be coming to SGP on Jun 14 for a private showcase (no tics sold) but we could not find any info on the web. One of the few times that Google has failed me :(

The following day, I changed my MSN header to read "Lady Gaga coming to SGP?!?! Anyone has lobang?" Lobang means connections.

No one answered my plead for help until later that evening when my bro ask me "What if I told u I rejected tics to Lady Gaga yesterday?"

WTF?!?!? REJECTED?????

His said that his reply to the person was "Who the @#$% is Lady Gaga?"

I begged and pleaded to ask him if he could get them back ..... telling him how BIG fans his two sisters are of her :D

Luckily he was able to get them back BUT the kicker was that in order to get them, he first had to attend a press conference on a SUNDAY before getting them.

I love my bro and what he does for us :)

That's two separate tics. Quite cool.

It was at the open field beside Riverside Point. We had fancy "MEDIA" tics that gave us front center view with free food and drinks.

She had 3 costume changes with 3 different hairstyles.

With the media tics, we joined a much shorter queue and we were still waiting in line for more than 1 hr before the opened the doors. After we got in, it was still more waiting while the DJ (who seemed really bored) played some tunes.

Lady Gaga did not show up until close to 9pm and she performed her many hits from her debut album.

Check out the videos I took!

We both loved the show! She did not do one particular song that I like - "Eh Eh" but other than that, her performance was great! I especially loved her acoustic version of Poker Face. The whole showcase was done live and it lasted for about 1hr.

Many MANY thanks to my bro once again :)

Early Father's Day Celebration

We celebrated Father's Day early as my bro and SIL will be going away to Taiwan next weekend. My mom chose the restaurant ... haha, we always ask her to choose so she cannot really complain if food is bad.

We ended up at Aranda Club where they had an international buffet. The selection was not that much and my bro said it reminded him of dorm food O_o It was kinda true.

Our plates of food with cream of chicken in the background.

The food was ok. We attacked on the roast beef and lamb. The service was not very good .. there was this poor guy that was manning the carving station, collecting plates, serving coffee and tea and everything else in between. There was one point when the line ran out of plates!

But it was cheap ... for the 6 of us it came out to SGD101.44 (this included the member discount) There is a French buffet next mth that my mom wants to go to .... Not sure if I wanna go :P

Welcome Rachel Tan!

Mommy Elsie and Daddy GX welcome their daughter Rachel on 10 June 2009.

Huiyi and I decided to go visit them on Fri. I managed to get out of work early but stupidly chose to take a bus down to Thompson Medical Center. The ride took more than 1 hrs and halfway through it, I told myself never EVER to take the bus for long distances!

By the time I reached the hospital, it was slightly past 8pm. I went through the quick questionnaire and temperature check (H1N1 precaution) and then rushed up to see the newborn.

Us with the proud parents.

Sleeping Rachel.

Daddy bundling up Rachel.

Little goodie bags that Elsie asked me to take more of as she was checking out tmr.

We stayed till pretty late and was finally chased out twice by a nurse at about 9.30pm.

Really happy for them ... CONGRATS!

Dad's minor surgery.

Umm, I guess I should have a warning - If u are squeamish about blood (there is a pic) and talk about surgery/operation/medical issues then skip this post :P

Well, my dad has been having some problem with his bladder .... something to do with his prostate. He had trouble peeing and sometimes could not control his bladder. He was put on medication for a while and it did help a little but it did not cure it.

Therefore, my dad decided to go ahead with the operation. Now that my Dad is still working, he covered under his company's medical insurance. He actually said that if he wasn't, he would not do it!

Anyway, my dad checked in on Mon and had the surgery on that day itself. Click here if u want to know more about the surgery. We didn't go to visit him until the day after as he was out for the most of the nite after his surgery.

Because of the H1N1 epidemic, the security at the hospital was pretty tight. Only 2 ppl could visit a patient at a time. There was also a queue where u have to register and where they checked to make sure u were not having a fever.

My mom, sis and I went but because only 2 were allowed, I went up first with my mom. However, soon after we got into my dad's room, my mom gave me her sticker (everyone needs a sticker and we had to pass one onto my sis) and I used that to sneak my sis up. Hahaha .. I'm sure we were not the only ones that did that.

My Dad's single room ... very sparse.

He still had a tube inserted and his urine was still bloody the day after the surgery.

Visitation was quite strict and at 8.30pm, we were told to leave.

Because the only wound was internal, my dad was able to be discharged the next day and will be on MC for a week or two. He is recovering well.

Wedding Dinner @ Fullerton

Was invited to a wedding dinner of a supplier. I have only met him a few times and I deal mainly with his other colleague so I was a little surprised that I was invited too.

This was my first business type wedding dinner so I wasn't too sure what was the ang pow etiquette. At first I thought I would have to come out with the money from my own pocket but after asking around, everyone was telling me otherwise. However, b4 I had a chance to approach my boss about it, we were informed that he was going to give an ang pow as a company ;)

This was my first time to this 5 star hotel (that is what everyone says it is) and so I did not know what to expect. My mom did say my dad had a wedding dinner there b4 and the food was not good .... however that was more than 10 years ago? Haha ... I knew I could not trust my mom on that .... alot of things would have changed in those many years :P

The dinner was on a Fri and so we went straight from work. I just wore a simple black dress. Most of the guests were dressed quite casually as they too came from work.

Our table, love the candle center pices. Haha, u could betcha I ordered a beer!

The bride was really pretty. I especially love the 4 string quartet that was there.

The menu ... all dishes were brought out and individually portion by waiters at the side. Quite professionally done.

The food was pretty good ... I missed out one pic .. the scallops with asparagus as we were too busy watching a video and it slipped my mind.

The toasting .... YYYUUUUUUMMMMM SSSSEEEENNNNGGGG!

I was the only one at our table taking pics. All was fine until they noticed me taking pics of the food ... sigh ... it was a tad awkward but I just ignored them and went on my way.

Had a fun time .... this would be a nice place to hold a wedding if one has the means.

The house I am living in is falling apart!

Sigh ... it is, it literally is. Remember when I first came back to Singapore and I posted some pics of the warehse aka my hse? Remember the pail of water that was collecting water from the leak in the roof?

Here is a recent shot ... it had just stopped leaking one day, so the pail of water is gone.

The hole on the right is the old hole (outside the kitchen) ... the one on the left is new! (inside the kitchen)

Here's a look from inside the kitchen .... instead of a pail, we are now using a plastic bag!

My mom said that we are going to wait till my dad retires (in Oct) to hire a contractor to fix up our hse because my mom does not want to deal with them. Ya ... cos it will interrupt her dates with the one arm bandit and tv.
