Getting Nibbled on :)

The girls and I went to get our feet nibbled on by fishies on Sun. I have read about it somewhere and have always wanted to try it out. The fishes are supposed to remove the dead skin on your feet and it's considered therapeutic. Well, not too sure about that, but it sounded like fun.

They have it at spas but we chose to go to a fish farm that also offered it at a very low price! We just wanted to try it out to see what's it like.

The farm is located at Chua Chu Kang .. pretty far from where I live and I had to take a damn bus then train to get there. They provide a free shuttle from the bus interchange which departs every 15mins.

I met Huiyi and Shanice on the train and we reached CCK interchange where Evon was already waiting for us.

---

Spa Fish! You pay for it first ($10 for 30mins) and they provide a small towel and flip flops if needed.

---

It's a communal area but it looks like they are doing some renovation which also prob mean that they would increase the price.

---

We had to wash out feet first then in we went into the "pool". The fish were a little tentative in the beginning but they seemed to LOVE Shanice! You have to get used to the nibbling feeling and at first it can be pretty ticklish.

There weren't ppl really checking to see that u left when yr 30mins was up so we stay about 10mins more :) After which it had already started pouring so we decided to look around at the fishes they were selling.

---

These poor fish are actually tattooed with numbers for those crazy gambling freaks to get number to buy the lottery. I wonder whether it is this procedure that has made them sick ... they were in a "sick, getting treatment" tank.

---

Look like guppies to me ....
---

Sting Rays.
---

$380 for a goldfish? There were alot of expensive fishes and they even go up to the thousands! I love fish but cooked on a plate, well .... other than Nemo of course ;)
---

More goldfish.
After walking around and taking more pics, the rain had subsided and we caught the next shuttle back to the interchange.
We were all starving by then so it was off to an early dinner at Ajisen. It was the first time I had been there ....
---

I hate and love going to new places as I always do not know what to order. I decided to go along with what Evon ordered, the Volcano Ramen. Was drawn to it as it was supposed to be super spicy but it wasn't that spicy at all. Disappointed at the spiciness and the fatty pork that was included but other than that, it was pretty yummy. The noodles are not those instant kind, they taste so much better.
---

Huiyi and Shanice had the Crayfish Ramen.
---

This was a raw squid with wasabi. This was really good, not too much wasabi that it bites and it wasn't fishy.
---

Baby Octopus. I don't like it .... I thought I would try it as it has been a long time since I've had it and maybe my taste buds have changed, but, nope, still don't like it.
---

California Roll and Tako Puchi ?? ... haha, I'm bad at remembering names.

Fried Silver Fish.

Dinner with Elsie

Elsie is having her spring break this week so we decided to meet up. Told her to let me know when she is free as she is always the one that has a packed schedule. She called me on Tue late afternoon to ask if I was free on Wed it was like godsend as I did not want to attend the event my mom was having at home.

However, it was almost cancelled as she text me late last nite to tell me that she might not be able to make it as she had last min design job. I don't know which I was more disappointed ... being cancelled upon or having to attend the event. I think the former ... I hate ppl cancelling at the last min.

Anyway, she called me this afternoon and told me that she was able to make it and suggested United Square. Weird thing was that when I was chatting with my bro asking him for suggestions on where to go, he suggested United Square too. Did not know that there were good places to eat there, all I know is that there is a Sanrio shop there :)

I was to meet LC at 6.30 and left the hse just as my Grandma, aunts and uncle were arriving (they were here for the event). I said my hellos and then rushed off, but not b4 my Grandma had a chance to ask if I had a bf and when I said no, she told me to find one ... GROAN!

Well, got there and we went to this Spanish restaurant called Bungalow Tapas Bar and Grill that has a really cool outdoor cabana seating. However, since it was rush hr traffic (its pretty near the main road) and I was perspiring, I told her I wanted to sit inside.

---

It was a quiet Wed nite. There was a pool table behind. Here's our White Peach Sangria and Original Red Sangria. They were both pretty strong and the white tasted a little sweeter. I finished my red and then helped LC finish half of hers :) I'm the alcoholic ...

---

Close up ... there were tiny apple cubes in it. Wanted to eat them but figured it would not be too atas.

---

Our first tapas (a small savory Spanish dish), dip with bread. Clockwise from the top, Hummus (its made of chick peas), Olives with onions and tomatoes, and last is sun dried tomatoes. The hummus was a disappointment. It tasted nothing like the one I have had in the US. It wasn't thick and it tasted bland. We both love the other 2 dips but I wish u could have actually bit into some sun dried tomatoes. And, OMG, must they have such huge bowls for such a measly portion of dip?

---

Next is Eggplant Parmesan. Well, they did not call it eggplant but some word that started with an "A". We asked the waiter what it was and he did not know either and so had to call the chef out to explain to us. Should the waiters know what is on the menu? This was yummy, the tomato sauce was seasoned with herbs and quite tasty.

Its layered with eggplant, tomatoes and cheese. LC complained that there wasn't enough cheese but I thought it was fine.

---

Next is Baked Potatoes with Chorizo. I loved this too, it was cooked with lots of peppercorn and garlic.

---

This is Baked Meat Spanish Rice that we DID NOT order. Haha, we took a pic after it was set down then called the waiter back to tell him that we didn't order it. Well, we were planning to order the seafood one so when it arrived we thought that we might have accidentally ordered it the first time the waiter came to our table. But when we looked into it and saw beef and chicken, we knew it was definitely not something we ordered. They took it back without questions.

The meal was pretty good but for the portions, it was pretty expensive. It was still fun to try out something new.

After dinner, we went to walk ard a little, which meant stopping by my LTS shop :) Nope, did not see anything new to get. So it was off for dessert!

Bakerzin!

---

Opera. Chocolaty goodness with a tiny speck of gold leaf.

---

Lavender Chocolate Mousse. Hint of lavender when u let it linger in yr mouth. Not bad.

---

LC's Hot Chocolate with Marshmallow. The chocolate and rich and creamy.

---

My usual cuppa.

---

Us with our cakes :)

Had a fun time eating and we always go all out, trying new places and stuffing ourselves. Did not eat too much tonite but I think everything we ate were calorie rich ..... cheese, bread, chocolate, alcohol ... Thank God we don't get a chance to meet up that often :)

P.S. Thanks to LC for some of the pics!

Stupid Event!

As u guys know, my mom is involved with the community, goes for meetings, organize activities and stuff. Well, my mom decided to volunteer our hse to be used for a dialogue session with some minister.

---

This is the banner hung around our estate .....Great advertisement for anyone who wants to commit a crime against any of them.

Anyway, she check with my dad first and he AGREED!

WTF?

Didn't he realize that he would have to clean up the hse? Well, it seems that he knew what he was getting into.

He started really cleaning up this weekend and u need to look a the BEFORE to appreciate the after. Here are some pics that I dug up from a BBQ more than a year ago. Bear in mind that a year is a long time for my dad to gather MORE crap.

---

BEFORE, concentrate on the items against the wall, ignore the food. On a side note ... I think there is an opportunity for a BBQ next mth ;)

---

BEFORE. Look at the corner ....

---

BEFORE. Ground level against the wall .... hmm, what's with the wet spot on the floor? Haha :)

Ready for the AFTER?

TADA!

TADA!

Impressed aren't u? The porch now looks like what a normal porch should look like. But this clean up wasn't without arguments.

But where did all the junk go? If u guys know my dad, u know that he doesn't throw stuff away, well, ok, he threw maybe 2% of what was previously there. The rest?

---

Follow the arrow .....

---

There it is! That is a glass door behind ..... yes, the junk is piled higher than me in some areas.

Damn! I thought he would have to clear that area too! I guess it was wishful thinking that I could actually open that sliding door. But since that area is hidden away, he has decided to hide his junk there. Oh, don't get me wrong, there was stuff there in the beginning, but now there is more.

My mom said he said that he will move the stuff back when the event is over. Who is he kidding? He is NOT going to move stuff back, he's going to find MORE stuff to replace the stuff he relocated!

NO!

NO!

NO!

Welcome, Adela!

Got a text from Huiyi yesterday telling that Christine has given birth and I was really surprised as she wasn't due for another mth. Was told that both mom and daughter are fine which is good. A few of us went down today to visit the new parents and their bundle of joy.

Decide to go on my own as there is a direct bus from my hse to Mt A. Luckily it only started to rain AFTER I reached the bus stop. But I kept praying that the rain will stop as I did not bring an umbrella with me.

I reached there only to be told by Huiyi that they (KL and her) will be late. What's new? He is perpetually late .... So I headed to the room myself, double checking the room number b4 knocking.

I was the only visitor at that time and Christine was breastfeeding. Adela was done and had fallen asleep still attached :) Both mom and daughter looked great!

---

She was born on 24 Mar at 1803 hrs, weighing 2.27kg (5lbs), length of 46cm (18in) and head circumference of 30cm (11.8in).

---

She's so cute and she has lots of HAIR! For a preemie (1mth 4days early) she looks big and has great color. Here she is after being fed.

As the time passed, more ppl showed up. KL and Huiyi finally showed and so did Ben. Also saw Ian and his new wife Bernice. He looked the same, no change.

Christine was in labor for about 5hrs without an epidural. Adela will have to stay in the hospital for observations at least till Thurs so Christine will be staying with her.

---

They wheeled her back in and she was wide awake! Think she has TY's eyes and Christine's nose. She was a good baby during the time we were there and seemed to be fascinated by all of us.

We left at around 10+ to let the happy parents rest and then headed to get some food as Huiyi and KL have not had their dinners. By the time I reached home it was close to midnight ....

Tomorrow? Sigh, thought I was getting away with one of my mom's event but now it looks like my plans might be cancelled. We'll see ....

Happy Birthday Huiyi!

Fri was Huiyi's actual bday so 我们 went out to celebrate. She chose a newly opened place that a few of us were keen on going. It is located at the basement of Raffles City.

---

It's a Marche like place where u are given a card that u charge onto at the different stations in the restaurant. U will then be billed the contents of the card when leaving.

---

Lost of card? $100! Wonder if ppl do "lose" it after charging more than $100 on it ... hmm.

---

Clockwise from the top .... Baby Octopus, Potato Salad, Kimchi and Jellyfish.

---

Thickly sliced salmon sashimi and California Roll.

---

Soup with Mushrooms, Veggies and Tofu. Tasty!

---

Mushroom Tempura.

---

Squid. Loved this ... it was grilled and seasoned to perfection.

---

Grilled Chicken Wings, Asparagus rolled with Bacon (well, the bacon was not salty at all so it was a disappointment as it was rather tasteless) and Mushrooms.

---

Jap Pizza! This was yummilicious too!

---

The bday cake .... I had such a hard time deciding what cake to get. The good thing is that everyone seemed to like it.

---

The bday girl ... she is 1!

---

我们 :)

---

The gals ...

---

The guys with Huiyi.

We will definitely head back to it again as the prices are reasonable and the service was great. We had moved to a clean table to cut our cake and a worker there brought us napkins when he saw what we were doing. We were very impressed and thanked him.

After dinner, Ben headed home. He had came directly from the airport after a day trip to Penang for business. The rest of us headed down to Marina for part 2.

---

Our drinks ...

---

Mango and Pomelo ice dessert.

---

Another mango ice dessert ... thank god I did not buy a mango cake, it was one of my choices. After those 2 desserts, I was suffering from brain freeze!

We did not stay out too late as KL needed to catch a bus home. The rest of us shared a cab back.

P.S. Thanks to Shanice and Evon for some of the pics!
