Congrats Ben!

Was invited to Ben's convocation .. well, not really invited to it, we were asked to meet him after the ceremony. Tics cost $45 per head, even Ben had to get a tic himself. We were going to meet him, crash the buffet and then go out for dinner in the evening.

The event was held at the Hilton and by the time we got there, ppl were already queuing up for the food. There wasn't anyone to check whether we had tics so we just walked right in. We found Ben almost immediately and proceeded to take some pics.

The graduate and us.

---

KL was there too as he was working the event.

After taking pics we then went to eat. OMG it was a mess! Almost all of the food were gone and have yet to be replenished. Dirty plates were all around as there were not enough staff clearing. Because it was a standing reception, it made it so much worst. There were only a few small tables around and they were all piled with dishes. There seem to be only one guy replenishing the food and with the typical Singaporeans, they filled their plates with food as they think that's all that is available.

I know, we shouldn't be complaining as we did not pay for it but still, I think Ottawa Street Catering can teach them a few things :) You would think that suck an established hotel would have done thousands of such events and this relatively small reception would have been peanuts for them.

The place only got somewhat presentable AFTER everyone had left. Desserts started coming out again and there were yummy!

It was about 3.30pm so we headed to Coffee Bean for coffee and to pass time b4 dinner. However, when 7pm came, we were still not very hungry and didn't know where we wanted to go eat. We decided to head to the Singapore Flyer aka the ginormous Singapore Ferris Wheel.

---

Umm ... the Benjamin Shears Bridge. See all the cranes behind? They are building the Integrated Resort aka Singapore Casino there.

---

The wheel. I wonder if they are able to change the lights for different seasons, like red and green for xmas? That would be pretty cool.

---

Can see the capsules. I really want to go on it ... most know that I LOVE ferris wheels!

---

Another reason to visit the Flyer ... POPEYES! They finally opened one in town! No more going down to the airport for it. Was going to tell LC but she beat me to it. However, we did not have it for dinner as most were not keen on it. Moreover, with their $1.20 per 30 mins parking, we did not want to stay long. So off we went to the next destination ....

---

Guess where we were ....

---

Really nice swanky place ...

---

We had a hard time finding the place and only Yvonne has been to it. However, the last time she went, her friend was driving and it was during the day. We made a few wrong turns and getting vague directions from her friend was no help. But we finally found it! Not too many ppl there as it is still relatively unknown.

---

I think there was one restaurant there, a TCC and .... I don't know. But it is a nice quiet place to sit and relax. After taking a few pics and deciding not to eat at TCC, we were on our way again. It was really a road trip. Glad Ben was doing the driving :)

By then, everyone was starving and so we decided to head to an area near my place for dinner, or rather, supper. It was 10+pm by the time we sat down to eat.

---

Tofu with Minced Pork.

---

Hor Fun. This was pretty good.

---

Another type of noodles (I don't really know my noodles) This was not very nice, the hor fun was so much better.

---

Oyster Omelet. This was yummy too! Lots of oysters in it.

---

Chicken with Dried Chili and Cashews. Think there were more chilies than chicken which it usually the case for this dish.

When the food came, we attacked! Our last meal was at 3pm so naturally everyone was hungry, including me. Maybe that's why the food tasted so much better ... haha

We have the next couple of weekends planned already ..... Yippee!

P.S. Thanks to Evon for all the pics. Took only a few on my camera but decided to just use all of hers :)
