Happy Lunar New Year!

My new year celebrations did not start until the 6th day of the lunar calendar. We first stopped by my Grandma's (my mom's side) for just a short while b4 heading to my uncle's (my dad's side) to have a family get together.

Check out the tons of food! It was a potluck.

This is my fave part of the new year ... Yusheng ... its a Singaporean thing :P

Adding more stuff to it ....

Time to mix it all up ... we say auspicious phrases while doing this.

Yummy ... just looking at it makes me hungry.

Me with my cousins' kids.

My bro and sis decided to join in the photo taking.

After the family gathering at my uncle's, my sis and I heading to KL's place for a friends' get together.

KL with his goddaughter, Adela.

Time for yusheng again!! This was made by Huiyi :)

So colorful ....

Time to toss it all up!

So grumpy here :P

Hehe ... not when I'm the one carrying her.

Or Huiyi ;)

Quite a few ppl turn up to KL's hse ... and we all had a great time there. After which we headed to a coffeshop near his hse for dinner. OMG, food again! It seemed only mins ago that I was stuffing my face.

Two noodles and a soup .... the soup was really yummy.

Oat Shrimp, Yam, Chicken and Squid!

After dinner, it was still early ... TY left to go to a friend's hse to play mahjong and Christine headed on home with Adela. The rest of us headed down to town for drinks and dessert. Yes, I know, its food food food for the whole day!

We went to Billy Bombers @ The Cathay.

An assortment of malts ... from the left ... Coffee, Cookies and Cream and Mocha.

Brownie and Ice Cream

Cheesy Fries!

Huiyi and KL.

Huiyi and Evon ... I did not know Evon don't take 3 persons shots :P

My sis and I .. the person in the middle is insignificant.

It was a long and tiring day but it was lots of fun! Until next year ....

Sometimes when u are down u open yourself up to friends only to regret everything that was said as now yr friend will forever look at u differently. Maybe even hate u for saying what u said ...

I am not my friends, don't compare me with anyone out there. Some ppl are stronger, they can cope better, they can better reason out what is going on in their heads. If I were them, I would not be pouring out my inner most thoughts ....

But sometimes I think I did it so that u and the rest would hate me and then I would feel better, and have no regrets about it.

Forgive me ... or not ... its sad cos I don't know if I care or not .....

Feeling numb ....

Happy Birthday Evon!

Yes ... I know this is very late :P But it has just been 2 weeks of ups and downs ... mainly downs .... it was hell.

Anyway, here are pics from that Fri nite when we met up to celebrate Evon's bday. We went to a new restaurant at Wisma called Whisk, it was the same place that Elsie and I went for dessert a few weeks back.

On the left is a plum soda and on the right, a root beer float.

Soup of the day .. I think it is Clam Chowder.

We all shared a salad.

I had the ribs .. it was not too bad, tender and not overly satuarated with bbq sauce.

KL had the fish and chips.

Umm ... I think this was YL's.

Ben had the mussels .. he had a hard time opening some of them.

My sis had the fish which was wrapped in bacon.

Evon's seafood pasta.

Huiyi's lamb ... this was yummy too.

Overall the food was not too bad, I think I wouldn't mind going back there again.

After dinner, we made our way to Taka's TCC for dessert. Unfortunately I did not take pics of that ... guess u guys have to wait till Evon posts them on her blog .... oh, she has the grp pic too ;)

After dessert, we headed to the McDonald's at Lido where we sat and chatted some more while enjoying the snack that Ben brought from HK.

Haha ... Wife Cake :)

It was my first time eating it and it was yummy. I like that it wasn't overly sweet like most desserts are.

It was late in the nite b4 we parted ways .... It was good to have Ben back.

Happy Birthday Yvonne!

Its Evon's bday today but we are not meeting up today as we are going to wait till Ben flies back tmr to celebrate. And what's really exciting is that Ben bought me a Little Twin Stars keychain. I'm real excited about it. Can't wait to get it :)

Well, CNY is round the corner but it seems like we would not be visiting on the 1st day OR the 2nd day. My dad has to work on both days .. one morning shift and the other a nite shift. Looks like I will be lazing around at home till Wed as my office is also officially closed on the 3rd day too :P

However, we do have plans on the 1st Sat of CNY, we would be going to my uncle's hse for a family gathering in the afternoon and then in the evening, we would be heading to KL's hse.

And then on the 8th, I'll be meeting up with some HKO peeps! That should be fun as there are a few who are going to show up that I have not met in real life b4. Hope everything goes as planned and all who said they would come will come ....

Anyway, that's a breakdown on my events for the next couple of weeks, so pls do check back for updates!

Once again, Happy Birthday Evon! :)

Gif!

Haha, my sis was telling me I should have images that change automatically (aka .gif files) to show off my new Little Twin Stars ang pow. I know ppl u have done it and luckily Tidesong, who is one of them, was online. I asked her how it was done and she mentioned that Adobe came with an add-on that allows u to do it. After a little googling, I figured out what it was called and when I opened my programs, I have it installed already!

And so I played around and when I managed to follow simple instructions I found on the web, I decided to gif pics that Evon took during Xmas. She had her camera set to automatically take a continuous 10 shot series of pics with 10 secs between each shot.

Presenting ..... Christmas 十连拍

We did not have much room to move in this one ....

Haha, this is so cute, can u spot the odd ones out in the first few pics? After that, it was all a mess :P

For more pics from that nite, pls see my earlier post.

Thanks again to Evon for taking the pics! :D

1st Singapore Tattoo Show 2009

Umm, not sure when I first heard about this but when I brought my sis to get her belly pierced (oops, guess that was something I left out) YL saw a poster on it and mentioned he was interested in going. I was kinda interested so we made plans to go!

Its held at the Singapore Expo .. this was the first time I've been there. One day pass was S$18.

There were quite a number of booths, most of which were doing on the spot tattoos.

These full back tattoos must have took quite some time to do ...

Very fascinating ... made me kinda tempted to get one.

The lion was just done, so it was still a little red.

This was my fave. It looks really pretty. I read that it took her about a year to finish it.

We walked around, admiring all the beautiful (and some not so beautiful) tattoos while waiting for the pretty famous tattoo artist to show up. If u have watched Miami Ink, u would who I am talking about. There were a few booths that did both tattoo and piercings and I saw a few dermal piercings that caught my eye .... hmm, do I want need one?

We played around while waiting for him to show up.

He was about 30mins late :P but worth the wait ... he's cute. It was going to cost $20 for a poster an an autograph ... umm, no thanks, plus the line was uber long!

We left the expo at around 7pm and were planning to go the the airport for Popeyes but while on route there, I had a sudden craving for steamboat! So after some text messaging tag with Huiyi, we decided to go to the mala steamboat place at Katong.

Huiyi and Evon joined us and we started eating about 8.30pm and stayed there till they closed @ 11pm .. haha, we should have gone to their other restaurant just a few steps away as they close @ 2am. Anyway, we had all eaten till we were bursting BUT there is always room to la kopi!

We headed to Jalan Kayu for kopi and along the way, my sis decided that she wanted prata dessert! We had to circle the parking lot a few times b4 we got a parking space.

My sis wanted Prata Tissu but they ran out, so it was just Prata Bomb which is a Honey Prata. But its kinda weird that it still came with curry gravy.

After our kopi and teh, we made our way home .... fun day!

2nd Singapore Tattoo Show, anyone? :D

Cinderella

I had known that the musical Cinderella was coming to Singapore for the longest time. And when I found out that it was going to be staring Lea Salonga, it made me want to watch it even more. For all u non musical going ppl out there, she was the original Miss Saigon, was in Les Miserables (my fave musical) starring as Eponine and Fantine.

Well, I mentioned it to the gang a year ago on KL's bday and we made a promise that we would watch it together. Sure enough, when tics went on sale, we quickly bought our tics.

We decided to have a nice dinner b4 the show and we wanted to go to Space @ My Humble Hse, unfortunately, the place was closed for a wedding dinner that nite so we had to make other plans.

We decided on Al Dente which was also at the Esplanade.

It had great view from one end, but on the other side, we were looking down at a Hawker Center. What a way to spoil the mood.

Bread and pizza with Olive Oil & Balsamic Vinegar and a Sweet Potato Dip.

Another pizza with prosciutto and mozzarella cheese, an appetizer sampler, pasta and pasta ... Haha. Kind of dumb that they only had spaghetti as an option for pasta.

Umm, Veal and Beef .... which is basically the same thing, except one is from a young cow, aka calf :P. Huiyi and I share the cheese stuffed tortellini which was yummy!

Group pic!

The food wasn't that fantastic and quite expensive. We would prob not go back there again ... haha, the place also seemed a tad run down with its peeling paint and weathered chairs in the corner.

It was then off to see the musical!

My sis and I.

Another group pic ;)

My ticket stub.

Got the program as it was only S$8. Probably because this was an Asian run. Typically programs cost about S$20.

Inside ....

This was actually my second time watching the musical. The first was in USA when it was starring Deborah (Debbie) Gibson and the prince was the same guy that was in the TV movie. I managed to catch them after the show was over and had both of them sign my free playbill (wish S'pore would give them out too, but I guess they want to make $$ from the sale of official programs)

The musical was really fun and Lea was a great lead, unfortunately she was a little short when standing beside the prince so it looked awkward at times. I loved how quickly they were able to change her clothes!

"...its possible for a plain yellow pumpkin to become a golden carriage. Its possible for a plain country bumpkin and a prince to wed in marriage ..."

After the musical, TY and Christine went home as Christine wasn't feeling too well. She has been sick for some time and with the baby, they cannot prescribe powerful drugs to her. The rest of us went to TCC for some dessert and drinks.

Our drinks ... guess which one is mine :P

O had tea and we shared some chocolate goodness.

The fries are really yummy with the cheesy dip! Gotta have them again!

One final grp pic!
